Hawaiian (HA) and Aloha (AQ) top on-time stats; Up go the fares

According to Pacific Business News, the U.S. DOT ranked Hawaiian (at 92%) best on-time airline of the 20 surveyed in November. Aloha followed in the survey. Both carriers led the survey throughout 2007.

Keep in mind however that the majority of their flights average under 30 minutes, and almost never have weather delays. The results, which don’t separate trans-Pacific from inter-island flights, are therefore not indicative of the performance of their longer (mainland) flights.

Meanwhile Aloha, Hawaiian and Go! all quietly raised their lowest-priced one way tickets from $39 to $49 today. We’ll see whether this is temporary or marks the end to the fare sales that we’ve all enjoyed.
