American Safari Cancels Hawaii Cruises

Oct 08, 2008 No Comments by Jeff

Back on February 14, we wrote about new luxury cruises scheduled to start this winter in Hawaii.  We were excited about this new aspect of Hawaiian cruising, something different than the 2,000 passenger boats now plying our waters.

Yesterday, somehow intuitively, I revisited the American Safari site to check on their progress.  They were still showing their interesting, albeit expensive cruises starting in December.

Now this morning, less than 24 hours later, I see that American Safari has decided not to enter the Hawaii market at this time.

Capt. Dan Blanchard, president and CEO indicated that they will defer Hawaii cruises until there is improvement in the U.S. economy.  He also indicated that escalating fuel costs and exorbitant air fares played a role in their change of plans.

Passengers already booked on their Hawaii cruises will receive full refunds plus other allowances.

We are sad about American Safari’s cancellation of their cruises, and we certainly hope to see them here soon.
