Why speed in paradise? A traffic ticket is very expensive and can leave you with a bad memory of your Hawaii vacation or worse. Before taking to the road, read my 10 safe driving tips for Hawaii visitors.
You may also want to plan ahead by downloading a mobile phone app called Trapster.
Trapster is a free service that allows users to share the location of police speed traps when they see them. It may not always be accurate since its success depends on users making reports. Some heavily patrolled areas in Hawaii, for example, were never identified on Trapster. This includes locations where I regularly see patrol cars waiting.
Trapster works on the following devices:

Interesting. Trapster is essentially an app designed to let user break the law and avoid getting punished for it.
As Hawaiian residents, it would seem very much in your interest that visitors either follow the speed limit (for your safety) or pay the appropriate fine into your state’s coffers (or does Hawaii have enough to not need a lute boost from tourists who confuse the narrow roads of Hawaii with a NASCAR track?)
It seems to me the correct solution to avoiding speeding tickets in Hawaii is simply to avoid speeding and enjoy the scenery.

Hi Oliver,
Thank you for your comment. Clearly I don’t condone speeding, nor do I speed. I do however find Trapster useful in pointing out some of the most dangerous driving areas on the islands, which of course is typically where the police set up traps.
Aloha,
Rob

Not sure Trapster is a good suggestion. Everyone seems to want to avoid responsibility nowadays – even for CHOOSING to speed.
Just S L O W D O W N – you’re on vacation in Hawaii! Who wants to play with phone apps while on vacation in Hawaii! No thanks.

@Rob – nice try, but your post is titled “Avoid Speeding Tickets”, not “Avoid Accidents”
