Canada and East Coast Hawaii Airfare Sale

Two sets of deals worth mentioning today. First, a 72 hour sale from WestJet. And second, great fares from east coast cities to Hawaii, many valid through Spring 2010.
1. Vancouver to Honolulu $189 each way (plus tax).
- WestJet Airlines.
- Book by October 8 for travel until January 31.
- Blackout dates between December 18 and January 4.
- Travel on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
- Other Canadian cities also on sale.
2. East Coast cities to Honolulu approx. $275 each way (plus tax).
- Cities include Atlanta, Boston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Washington.
- Continental, Delta, US Airways and others.
- Some Fall only, others valid through Spring 2010, many include Thanksgiving dates.
- 14 day advance purchase.

At first, it excited me to see WestJet’s YVR-HNL deal. Then I read the blackout dates. As a public school educator, I find it so interesting that the blackout dates conveniently fall on the entire length of our winter break. Now I understand that this might be based entirely on coincidence and what they may call “peak season”, but it’s really upsetting to see even local airlines, like Hawaiian, raise the prices when teachers/students are off from school.
One day, I would just like to be given a break.
