Delta 747-400 Atlanta To Honolulu
Effective April 1 (for real), the only domestic 747 route to Hawaii begins thanks to Delta.
If you’re on the East Coast, you’ll be able to catch Delta flight 803 leaving Atlanta at 10:15 am, arriving Honolulu at 1:30 pm. The return, Delta flight 802, leaves Honolulu at 3:15 pm and arrives Atlanta the next day at 5:35 am.
Delta is currently incorporating and repainting Northwest’s 747 livery. Naturally, I’ll be keeping my eyes pealed for any deals thereon.
I remember in the old days flying a 747 on short distance Pan Am (remember them?) flights between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The fare was $59 in first-class and $29 in economy.

I remember those short hops on a 747. I took that flight from SFO to LAX on a 747, after flying in from London. I remember thinking at the time, how bizarre that was for such a short flight.
Wow, a 747 from SFO to LAX. Last June I flew a CRJ 200 and a ERJ 145 from FAT to MCI. Traveling halfway across the country on small planes is not my idea of fun.
Of course, the benefit to this is the many WBC seating with AVOD that’ll be available. Good for mileage burners, provided mileage award inventory is readily available (although knowing Delta, that probably won’t be true). In Y, however, it’ll be awful. These are old jets without a refurb on the interiors.
Fantastic! Delta is flying a 747 with upgraded meal service to Atlanta where they have over 1,000 Delta connecting flights to the world!! Nobody but nobody runs a hub like Delta. Even though it is the biggest single airline hub in the world… it is run like a fine watch. They really got their act together!! And Hawaii now has the world’s lrgest carrier too… Delta.
