Denver, Houston, Phoenix Airfares Reduced

Published by Jeff at 10:59 am under All Deals

kauaiReasonable prices to Honolulu became available today from these three cities. This resulted from US Airways dipping into UAL’s Denver hub, and UAL dipping into Continental and US Airways Houston and Phoenix hubs.  While these aren’t the incredible deals we saw just last week, they still help.

Denver $156 each way

  • US Airways
  • $387 round trip (all-inclusive)
  • Early September through January
  • 14 day advance purchase
  • Minimum/maximum days 3/60
  • Monday through Wednesday travel
  • Limited availability at this point

Houston $162 each way

  • United Airlines
  • $388 round trip (all-inclusive)
  • Late August through early December
  • Good availability

Phoenix $158 each way

  • United Airlines
  • $377 round trip (all-inclusive)
  • Late July through early December
  • 14 day advance purchase
  • Good availability

Use the flexible date search of your choice to help find these prices.  Then book through a meta-search or airline website.

My husband and I are going to Hawaii for the first time Nov 23 through Dec 1. Our dates are pretty firm as we already have a hotel package. However, I have watched the fares from BGR (Bangor, ME) to HNL go from 600 to over 1,000 in the last six months. When do you think I’ll be able to get a price somewhere around $800.00. I wish I had booked my tickets back in early spring. Now I check everyday and it seems like the fares just keep rising. I did take your advice to others and signed up for Kayak emails. Any other thoughts on when BGR to HNL might go on sale? Thanks!

    Hi Julie,

The Fall fares really aren’t due out for another 30-60 days (even though we’ve seen a few already), so I wouldn’t panic yet. Watching the Kayak emails is a very slow way to get deals. You might consider using RSS or Twitter, as I’ve suggested before, in order to get deals nearly as soon as they are released.

    Aloha, Jeff

This weeks Travelzoo features their new booking engine – fly.com with two offers pdx – hnl and ogg at $359.00

We had also hoped to go back to Hawaii in early December and had just about given up hope. But, we grabbed onto a $500 pp fare from StL about a month ago – this is less than we paid 4 years ago. Fares had been running around $700-$800 pp for a long time. With car rental rates up, too, we figured we wouldn’t make it this year.

I subscribe to every airline email that flies to Hawaii from our area – as well as Kayak, Travelzoo – you name it.

If you have been monitoring what the fares have been running in your area – then when THE FARE crosses your screen you will know to pounce right then – our $500 fare was GONE and the very next day and now the lowest I have seen recently is $574 – which is still pretty good.

The key is to KNOW when you see a good fare for your area – and that requires monitoring the airline fare sales regularly.
Hope you get a great fare soon.

I don’t where everyone is finding these fantastic fares. I’m coming up empty handed everytime unless I want to pay $1200 for a flight (just a flight, no hotel, no car) from Dayton, OH (or Columbus, OH) to Honolulu. Looking to go Fri, Aug 7 to Sun Aug 16. Any ideas?

    Hi Julia,

As the Cleveland post indicated: “Valid: Mid-August through early December.” I’m afraid your dates are too early in August for Fall fares.

    Aloha, Jeff
