First Look: Kauai’s Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas
Here’s a good excuse to catch the next plane to Kauai. You can relax and unwind at the just opened Kauai Westin Princeville Ocean Resort for a fraction of the regular price.
Location: Two hundred feet above Kauai’s famous north shore Anini Beach (yet not visible from below), sits the new elegant yet casual property, a mere 6 minute walk from the ocean.
The deal: Based on availability, the nightly rate is $299 on a minimum five night stay. Also included is a 2 for 1 coupon at Princeville Ranch Adventures (a $150 value). Just book by May 31 and complete your stay by December 31.
Is it worth the trip? Beat of Hawaii had a personal tour of the resort today to find out just for you.
Tia Graham, Director of Sales and Marketing, met us in the Clubhouse which serves as the entry point to the resort. Our impression was immediately positive. The resort is stylish and graceful. It evokes the casual feeling that defines the island of Kauai.
We genuinely liked the hotel with its warm tropical woods, pleasing art and ocean views. Not to mention 4 pools, a grocery store, Kid’s Club, gym and restaurant. The staff is friendly and seemed genuinely excited to be a part of this new hotel.
The Villas: There are 346 two-bedroom accommodations. These can also be rented as a studio or one-bedroom villa.
The elegant rooms feature Whirlpool tubs with shutters that open to the bedroom. All units have fully equipped kitchens plus washer and dryer. Other nice touches include a full sized refrigerator, granite counter tops and a center island in the 1-bedroom villas.
Our verdict: Come here to relax and unwind in perfect comfort and a divine setting (Anini Beach is one of our island favorites). Everything is shiny and brand new and ready for guests.
Two of the buildings opened earlier this month with the remaining five to be in full operation by August.
We’ll be back: We plan to return soon to review their new restaurant, Nanea, and to report on any other developments.
PS: We received no compensation of any kind for this review.

will be in Kauai starting June 5 and am considering this property. how close is the beach to the villas? thanks for sharing
Hi Karl–
While we didn’t walk down to the beach on this visit, we asked about the distance. We were told by staff that it takes about 6 minutes each way. Next time we’re up there, we’ll check out the walk and report back.
Aloha,

Don’t hesitate to visit this property. My wife and I bought into the Villa’s two years ago while visiting the Princeville Resort (which is converting to a St. Regis)…we just returned from our first visit and couldn’t be happier. The rooms are fantastic with everything you need to take care of a family…we took our 9 month old daughter, called the front desk about a local place to get a small crib and they just told us to hold on for a few minutes while they had a “Heavenly Crib” sent up to us. First class staff that is going out of their way to ensure you’re happy. We had such a great time we immediately bought another week of time at our visit. If you can get in on any of their promotions don’t hesitate to do so…the facility is perfect and there are shuttles to the golf courses as well as the Princeville resort where you can use their beach if you don’t want to go down the walking path to the beach at the bottom of the hill near the property. This is a gem in a wonderful community on the north shore…if you’re looking to unwind, this is the place. If you’re looking for nightlife, head to Maui…but if you are comfortable with the island/beach speed you’ll never want to leave.
Cheers,
Dan
Thanks, Dan. Your review will be helpful to visitors considering the Westin. If we didn’t live on Kauai, we’d stay here too.

We’re considering this property since expedia is running a special here. But we’re going in Late October and are concerned about winter weather on the North side of Kauai. IS the ‘winter’ weather that bad in late October/early November. We’d like to do a lot outside close to where we will stay (hiking mostly).
Our other option is to stay in Lihue on the east side, which is better situated (middle of the island) to access the entire island quickly—but options there are thousand dollars more.
Should we consider the SOUTH side of the island, considering the winter weather on the North coast?
Also, does this property offer ocean views?
Thanks in advance to everyone who replies!
Cardo
Hi Cardo,
I’m not a weather forecaster, but in my experience, end of October to beginning November is usually fine here. Later in November to early December traditionally brings the first seasonal rains.
As I’ve mentioned before, when the winter rains do come, they are unlike trade showers, in that the South part of the island will often get these as bad as or worse then the North side.
Yes, the property does have ocean views, including from some of the units, but not all. It is set back from and above Anini beach, which is a relatively short walk away.
Aloha,
Jeff
