Yes, please kindly advise as new updates are much appreciated. I am staying at Moana Surfrider and rate for self parking is 25$ per night. Since I’m staying 7 nights, that is definitely a whip on my wallet. Please advise. Thank you in advance!

Jeff, you seem to know your way around a bit. We are also wondering about parking. We are staying at the Ilikai. Valet only at $20. However someone mentioned they thought there was a lot behind this hotel that went for $8/day. What do you know if this? If it’s true, do you know if there are in-and-out priviledges. We’ve been tryng to get info, but no one seems to know.

Sorry. I was wondering if free parking 24 hours is still available along Montserrat Avenue and in the lot next to the Waikiki Shell, just off Montserrat? Is there much risk with parking at these places? And is it still $10 per day for parking with in/out privileges at the Waikiki Banyan Hotel (on ‘Ohua Street)? Can you park there if you’re not staying in that hotel? Are there any other cheap or free parking options near the Royal Garden at Waikiki hotel, 440 Olohana Street? The hotel is about midpoint between the zoo and the Ala Moana center, about 1 1/4 miles to each. It’s 1.6 miles from the Waikiki Banyan hotel.

Can anybody update this 17-month old article? My husband and I are making our first trip to Hawaii in August, staying at the Royal Garden at Waikiki. We thought we’d rent a car for 2 or 3 days, to see the island, but otherwise use public transportation. We would like to get the best deal available for both car rental and parking. All suggestions will be appreciated. I plan to reserve a car soon.

The RQ Waikiki Beach Tower parking is indeed free, although I believe it is valet only. The way I come and go, that turns out to be somewhat expensive, tip-wise.

If you are staying in specific hotels or condos, there are a couple that also offer free or reduced parking. Staying at the ResortQuest Waikiki Beach Tower gives you free parking for 1 car. Staying at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki used to give free parking with a minimum 3 night stay. However, as of January 1st, 2009, they charge a $25 daily self-parking fee, but with a 4-night stay or longer, they cut that in half.
