Updated 3/15/09: Deals change quickly, and not always for the better. The San Francisco deals are gone for now. The price has gone up by over $200. The Los Angeles fares in the low $400′s are still available at this time.
Updated 3/12/09 pm: I still find available dates during June, July and August from San Francisco to Honolulu at just over $300. The Los Angeles to Honolulu fare has just gone up and is now starting at about $400 (still a great deal). Check back over the next few days and I’ll post any further updates I find.
This is for those of you who have been asking about peak summer travel deals. Since people are obviously not booking, the airlines are momentarily caving on price. This is a great opportunity and I seriously doubt that the prices will get any better than this. In any other year, we normally see these dates selling for two to three times more.
If you book now, it is possible to fly round-trip to Honolulu from San Francisco or Los Angeles for approximately $300. This includes June, July and August peak dates (all not all dates are available for all carriers).

Is there any big deal if fly from sacramento to honolulu in late june?
Suzanne (3 years ago)
This was posted today and I tried tonight but to no avail. I got nothing close to this price from the second week of June until the last week of August both weeks of which I just can’t swing. I flexible date searched it for the entire summer. As a teacher, I really needed the summer time frame. Perhaps the deals will emerge again. I’m still hopeful to get a party of four over there for less than 2 grand.

Lesley: You’ll do far better to drive to San Francisco. Sacramento airfare is nearly double.
Suzanne: Airfares change three times a day. The SFO deal is still available and LA is now about $100 more, or $400.

I have been searching all over the internet for some bargain priced airline tickets from Seattle to Kona for a two week trip starting July 26th. Is it generally cheaper to fly to Honolulu and then book an inter-island flight to Kona? So far I’ve found $360 from Seattle to Honolulu and $76 from Honolulu to Kona. Are those good prices for summer travel to Hawaii?

Hi Dawn,
Yes, those are very good prices for the high summer season. If you’re dates are firmly set, I’d buy sooner than later. There are no generalities in terms of whether it is cheaper to fly to Honolulu or to Kona unfortunately. If it were me, I’d prefer the non-stop to Kona on Alaska. It is running about $600 for those dates however.
