  1. DO you have any hints on how to find these fares? We are looking to take a group of 10 to Oahu in June, and I would take any of them (I’m looking at the United/Hawaiian ones out of SEA, SFO or PDX), but I can’t find them on the carrier websites or on google/flights. I also looked at SAN>LIH, but I can’t find that one either. 🙁 Just wondering if there is a better site to use or what I’m doing wrong.

  2. Aloha, Any suggestions for best fares flying out of Des Moines, IA or Omaha, NE? Very flexible on dates. I’m a huge fan of your website & use to live on Oahu. Mahalo, Julie

    1. Hi Julie.

Thanks! The best prices for spring are $693 and for fall $750 from OMA. DSM is about $50 higher in general. On United.

      Aloha.

  3. Hi! Love your site! However, your links aren’t working — I click them and it just bounces me back here to this site. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

    1. Hi Debbie.

Hmmm. Not sure. We just tried many links in that post and they all worked correctly. Anything specific that you are looking for that we can try to help with? Also keep in mind that deals from January 2 won’t likely be valid on January 15.

      Aloha.

  4. (Just sharing my experience)
You snooze you lose – got to reading my email alert from Beat Of Hawaii late, at 2:45 pm PST I priced SFO to OGG for 4/3-4/10 and got $382 which was a very good price specially considering that is spring break week, then at 3pm I refreshed and the fares jumped up to $573 – ARGGGH!!!

Lesson learned and memo to self – do not delay in reading BOH alerts!

    Mahalo much BOH!

  5. Still wondering if you have advice for “buy now” or “wait” for Sacramento to Honolulu in July 2018… Sacramento is only serviced by Alaska (which only goes direct to Maui from there; adding inter-island increases cost/flight time significantly) and Hawaiian. For those reasons, I’m not thinking we’ll see lesser prices for high season travel and am considering booking now (egads, though, $910…that’s rough!). Your thoughts?

  6. Hello and happy holidays!
I am planning a huge family trip 16 of us to be exact, leaving Lax to Kona for June 21-28. I have been looking for sales or large group discounts but so far I have not found anything under $780-$800 is this normal for this time of year?? Should I book now or wait for a sale??

    Thank you very much!
    Sandra

    1. Hi Sandra.

Conventional wisdom on this is to book as far in advance as possible and contact the group travel desk of the airlines flying your route. Because of new routes there is a remote possibility of unexpected discounting. That is anything but certain however and cannot be counted on. Your dates are very high season. With a group discount, expect to pay approx. $700 per person.

      Aloha.

  7. Hi this is Jason

I am having trouble finding a great deal from San Antonio To Honolulu. I am flying out the 2nd week of April.

Are there any scheduled deals expected to be out?

    Thank you

    1. Hi Jason.

You can expect to pay about $650 (though that price is not yet available but should be soon). Doubtful it will be cheaper than that.

      Aloha.

  8. This site never fails!!! Been watching a very specific travel window for a few weeks. Prices have remained at a “default” high price. Saw this post and jumped over to Hawaiian Airlines. $297 RT LAX>HNL mid Feb. *Bows to the oracle*

    1. Hi Scott.

Thanks so much for letting us know. It makes us happy to hear when the deals work out for visitors. And comments like ours keeps us at it after 10 years.

      Aloha.

  9. Aloha ! We are traveling to Maui from NYC the second week of May. I know right now Hawaiian Airlines has a sale but it’s only through the end of March. Do you think they will have another sale and the prices will go down for the middle of May? Thank you in advance! Ps. Love this website !

    1. Hi Stacy.

Thank you. Yes it is a bit too early for those dates to be on sale. Maybe within the next month or so we should start to see spring sale dates that go through May.

      Aloha.

  10. Long-time fan of yours — keep up the great work! I’ve been to most Hawaiian islands, finding that my favorite place by far is North Shore Kauai, which my wife also likes. However, she is a geology nut who loves the Big Island as well, so when we have an opportunity to visit Hawaii both islands must be visited (happy wife = happy life). Is there a way to take advantage of special rates like these flying from SJC to ITO or KOA, staying a week or so, then flying to LIH for a visit there before returning to SJC? I am hoping to pay only about $50 or so per person to add the inter-island segment — is that possible or wildly optimistic?

    1. Hi Bruce.

Always good to hear from you and mahalo for being a long reader and commentor!

Yes $50 is wildly optimistic. Unless there’s a new inter-island airline, expect to pay about $110 between Big Island and Kauai. Otherwise, yes almost all fares to Hawaii seem to be one-way so that you can do just as you suggested and build your own open jaw routing.

      Aloha.
