Hawaiian Airlines Airbus A330

Hawaiian Airlines Economy Class Seats Ranked Best

Hawaiian Airlines has just been rated as having the best economy class seatsĀ on flights to Hawaii on their Airbus A330 planes. According to expertflyer.com’s Chris Lopinto,Ā ā€œHawaiian Airlines ā€” they do it right.ā€Ā The A330 planes offer passengers up to 32 inches of legroom and approximately 18 inch wide seats.

Alaska Airlines is a close second and missed by an inch with the same seat pitch as Hawaiian Airlines and 17 inch wide seats. Allegiant has a very tight 30 inch pitch with 17.5 inch wide seats.

Beat of Hawaii Review

The thinness of the seats on Hawaiian Airlines definitely contributes to more room in the cabin. What this review does not take into consideration is seat comfort. We have found that the seats can be quite hard due to their thinness, especially on long flights such as the Honolulu/New York run.

We are about to give Hawaiian Airlines economy a try again and will report back. This time we are checking out their extra comfort economy seats, which provide 5 inches or more of extra legroom among other benefits. At an extra cost between $60 to $125 each way, depending on distance, it might be worth the extra bucks.

  1. I also flew on Hawaiian recently and found my window seat extremely uncomfortable. It was hard and shaped to make sleeping, especially on Hawaiian’s Las Vegas to Honolulu 1:30 AM flight impossible. I could not find a comfortable position to sleep or sit for any length of time. I did complain to Hawaiian but I doubt if one complaint will change things. We need to make our voices heard. I am dreading my next flight in less than two weeks on the same flight. I’ll have to reassess whether I continue with Hawaiian even with my Pualani Gold status if I have to suffer through another sleepless flight!

  2. I just flew from Oahu to the Big Island of Hawaii in the economy seats. I have never felt as squooshed in my life. I fly at least 7 times a year and always in economy. I am not a complainer and I am aware that sitting in the rear of the plane means you don’t have room to stretch.

I am 5’2″ and small as weight goes. I don’t need a lot of space. The plane was a Boing 717 with 3/2 seating. It was uncomfortably small. The distance between my face and the back of the chair in front of me was the smallest I have ever experienced. My little knees touched the seat too. But then, the person in the seat in front of me leaned her seat back. That was the point I could no longer read my book becase there was about 6 inches between her seat and my face and I cannot read a book so close to my face.

I asked the flight attendant if I could move to the entirely empty exit row. He said no. You have to pay extra before you get on the plane, to sit there. If there were an accident, there was no one to help open the doors. This airline has put safety behind profit. And clearly comfort is Behind that. I wish i could get my money back because it was by far the most uncomfortable flight with an airline that cares not for its customers.

  3. I didn’t find them any better than seats on other airlines such as Delta. What made Hawaiian Airlines seats less comfortable for me was the passenger next to me who assaulted me by banging his foot on my knee, stomping my foot, and shoving my arm because he thought he was entitled to all of the armrest and half of my “legroom”. Also, the flight attendant who accommodated HIM by asking me why I didn’t just get up and walk around more helped to add to my discomfort. For me, JetBlue still has the most comfortable economy seats.
