Hula Extravaganza Comes to Bay Area

Get ready for hula! Over 50 dancers from around the globe will gather in San Rafael at the Angelico Hall at Dominican University of California on Saturday June 21 at 7pm, for Recalling Hawai`i. Tickets are $25 and available at Brown Paper Tickets.

This 8th global production includes performers and musicians representing most of the islands and a contingent from Germany and Switzerland. Wait! How does hula have a European connection? Roselle Bailey remains the glue that holds everything together. In 1975 her group restored Keahualaka, an ancient hula amphitheater on Kauai. Since then Roselle has become an international hula ambassador forming satellite halau groups in Europe.

Watch them united together in this heartfelt Hula theater that awakens Hawaii’s past and reveals its present and future. Recalling Hawai`i began in 2010 by a special invitation to perform at Heidelberg Castle in Germany. This production followed sold out shows in Europe and then again last year in Honolulu.
