December 20, 2010 total lunar eclipse update.
Tonight will be the first time in two years that we’ll see a lunar eclipse here in Hawaii. From 11:30pm to 3:00am, Hawaii will have an unparalleled view of the eclipse over its dark waters. Fifty-four percent of the moon’s surface will be occluded and the entire event will be visible here, weather permitting.
The lunar eclipse will also be visible in the Western US Mainland; the farther west the better. On the Pacific Coast, the eclipse will take place three hours later.
Planning ahead, a total eclipse will take place on December 21.

Yes, it was great, between the clouds. More of the moon appeared occluded than was expected (seemed like 2/3 was hidden).

Given the current storm, I’m not sure how visible it will be frankly. The Bishop Museum is having a viewing, if it doesn’t get rained out. (PS: It got rained out.)
