Starting August 18, you can fly Continental from Los Angeles to Honolulu for $380 RT. Hawaiian Airlines is still hoping against hope that you’ll pay a minimum of $540 for the same late summer flights.

Hello, I can’t seem to find the 380 airfare. I searched mainly late Aug and September but could find none below 480. Any chance you could tell me which dates you wee looking at? Thanks!

Good point, and exactly why I said “Move fast!”
You must be ready to buy these deals literally within a few hours. Yesterday I found many available dates in late August, September and October.
By this morning however, while I can still find many outbound flights, the first return from Honolulu at that price wasn’t until October 7.
Try Travelocity and its flexible date search.
Also, I suggest using a feed reader to monitor air travel deals.

When I read your post the other day, I was really impressed that there’d be a RT available from LA to Honolulu in that price range. I had even made up my mind to make our blog visitors aware of that special deal. Maybe good that I didn’t. Seems more like a treasure hunt…Pua

Hi Pua,
The reality of the marketplace is that most deals are now only available for hours, not days or weeks as they were previously. So if I really want a deal, I go at breakneck speed to book it.
As I told Marcy, I can still find that pricing, but just not for as many desirable dates as when it was first announced early yesterday.
