New York to Honolulu $212 Each Way

New York to Honolulu $212 Each Way

There a new route that's just been announced by Hawaiian Air. It's from New York's JFK to Honolulu.

To innaugurate the service, which starts June 4, the carrier has a Hawaii travel deal that offers the cheapest fare from New York that we've seen in over two years. The nonstop flight, onboard Hawaiian's Airbus 330, which seats 294 passengers, departs JFK at 10am, arriving in Hawaii at 3pm. The return leaves Honolulu at 3:05pm arriving in New York the next day at 5:55am.

Updated 11:30am HST: This fare is selling out quickly. Currently only June 5-15 NYC departures are available. Returns are still open at that price. Hawaiian's monthly calendar is showing errors, so I suggest using their standard (7-day) view of fares to find availability.

My take

  • Bottom line, this is a great value for the 5,000 mile, greatest distance US domestic flight. Making it even better, you can travel throughout June, which means this is peak summer travel at an unheard of price.
  • Don't be surprised to see more deals from the east coast start to pop up in the upcoming months as a result of Hawaiian's first entry into east coast markets. Previously the New York route was dominated by United/Continental with their nonstop flight from Newark.
  • Lastly, if you've got any Hawaiian Miles saved up, or AA miles, there's availability for 17,500 miles each way. That's exceptional value when flying inter-island will cost at least 7,500 miles each way.

Today's Deal

  • Cost: $212 each way, plus $10 tax. Round trip not required.
  • Airline: Hawaiian Air.
  • Booking dates: Now through November 20.
  • Travel dates: June 4 through 30.
  • Valid to/from Honolulu only. Neighbor islands are not included.

      Hi Lynne,

It’s possible but not likely. Midwest isn’t a place we have a lot of sales to, and from the neighbor islands even less. You might want to use the search feature of the site to look at the city you’re heading to for an idea of when the last sales occurred.

      Aloha.

Best news in a longtime Jeff…I go to the Islands to see family every year and every year Continental/United’s airfare keeps creeping up. Plus, in coach they don’t even feed you on a 10 hr 40 min direct flight….Hopefully, now Hawaiian will give them a run for their money. Plus leaving at 10 AM and arriving at 3 PM is so much better in terms of gaining a day after a long flight.

    Hana Hou!

Mahalo nui loa for the news…see you soon

Do you think Chicago to Oahu sales will be in the near future. Two years ago I got round trip tickets on AA for $300.0 for an October trip.

      Hi Cathy,

Bringing out my crystal ball, I’d say yes. Perhaps for either January-February or April-May time frames.

      Aloha,
      Jeff
