Newark To Hawaii $192 Each Way (Plus More East Coast Deals)

Published by Jeff at 11:19 am under All Deals

surfUpdated 1/23: This deal (from New York) has been going for 4 months, and continues to have availability.  Some dates have gone up by $50 or so in the past week, which may be an indicator of things to come.  If you’re planning to use this deal, I suggest waiting no longer.

The price range is approximately $525-$625, all-inclusive.  The main players at this moment (they keep changing) are US Airways and American, although Continental’s non-stop of often just a few dollars more. This pricing still includes most of the summer.

Thereafter the price is slightly higher, in the $625 range (except for Spring break), and that amazingly still  includes virtually all of  next summer!  That compared with the $900-$1,200 we’d normally expect to see in summer.

We’ve got some improvement in East Coast to Hawaii airfares today.  This is a welcome sign that Fall sales to Hawaii are starting.

In addition to Newark, you’ll find Boston, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, New York (JFK) and Pittsburgh for approx. $600 or less.  Use any of the flexible date searches (Kayak, FareCompare, etc.) to find them.  If you get stuck, post a comment here or chat with me on Facebook.

Newark to Honolulu:  $192 each way ($458 roundtrip all-inclusive)

  • Delta/Northwest (Continental nonstop is still at $535)
  • Fare valid through June 2010 dates (not available over holidays)
  • Excellent availability

Hi, these deals seem great but I am having trouble finding them on my own. We have a wedding on Oct 25 at 4 pm and I can only take 3 days off from work. Can you help?

    Hi Jen,

Where are you looking? I’m finding that price available on virtually all dates around October 25 on delta.com.

    Aloha, Jeff

    Hey Jeff,
Thanks so much for getting back to me. It doesn’t really matter — the wedding is on Oct 25 at 4pm at the OGG airport. I can only take off 3 days from work, but it doesn’t really matter which 3 days.

    This is awesome of you!
    Jen

My pleasure Jen. Let me know what happens when you check delta.com. Best, Jeff

    Hey Jeff,
When I check out Delta to airport OGG I found 907.59 per passenger. Should I do a different airport? Our wedding is closed to OGG.

    Thanks again!
    Jen

This deal valid as of this morning. It is to Honolulu however, not to Maui (OGG).

    Aloha, Jeff

Thanks Jeff. I’m going to look into it. Any tips about the cheapest way to get from Honolulu to Maui then?

I feel like an idiot! On delta it still says it is about 600 dollars. I chose EWR and NHL. What am I doing wrong? I chose a nightime departure on 10/23 and anytime on 10/27.

    Hi Jen,

I just checked delta.com and on your dates got $537, which is for morning departures. I couldn’t even find an evening departure.

If you come to HNL and then fly to OGG, you add about $120 total for inter-island at this point.

Best deal to Maui for your dates (and it is a very good deal frankly) is $636 total on United. #819 leaves EWR 7am; #1 leaves ORD 10:20am; #5608 leaves HNL446pm. Return is even better #345 leaves OGG 841pm; #56 leaves SFO 1039pm.

    Hope this helps.

    Aloha, Jeff

Thanks Jeff- I wound up booking on US Airways for my October dates as it was only 1 stop to Maui with no stop in HNL for $726 which seems ok for what’s out there right now! :)
    Mahalo!

We are going to Oahu May 3 and returning from the BI June 3 visiting Kaui and Maui in between. Leaving from Denver. What is the best time to be looking for flights? Should I make it a round trip to and from Honolulu?

  11. Jeffon 02 Oct 2009 at 8:00 am

    Hi Ginger,

I think with your nice itinerary, probably a RT from Denver to Honolulu will yield the best price. You may have to wait until after the first of the year; on the other hand, Fall deals, that should be starting any day sometimes go all the way through Spring, so do keep watch starting immediately. At current prices, your inter-island cost will be over $300 per person, so finding a good deal from the mainland will really help.

For comparison, last year on 10/29 AA had a $277 round trip (all-inclusive) fare from Denver to Honolulu that was valid through this Summer.

    Aloha, Jeff

My daughter will be flying from Boston to Honolulu March 13 and back March 20. When should I be looking for tickets? Right now the cheapest are $1000 – is that likely to go down in the next month or two?

    Hi Tracey,

Thanks for writing. I’m not optimistic about your dates being under $1000; they are in Spring break which is almost always high-priced ($900-$1200+). If they do get cheaper, it wouldn’t likely happen until near the date. I’ll keep fingers crossed with you; stay tuned.

    Aloha, Jeff

Aloha Jeff – thanks for the info. I will keep you posted and if I see you swimming at H Bay I will say hello. We will be staying in Princeville for 9 days next May. Our favorite thing to do is snorkel. Any place good near Princeville? Ginger

    Ginger,

Tunnels beach is probably the best and not very far away. Be careful with parking and parking tickets though.

    Aloha,
    Jeff

Jeff – Thanks for the heads up on parking tickets. How is Hidaway Beach for snorkeling? Ginger

I searched on Continental and then US Airways for the HNL-New York deals supposed to be valid also next summer but the prices I was given were $100 to $300 higher than posted on your site – tax and airport fees not included What am I doing wrong? my dates are June 30 – August 1 with flexibility. THANX :o )

    Hi Sarah,

Looking at Kayak tonight, I still find the same pricing ($625) is available for your dates.

Suggest using Kayak to find dates and flights and then go to the airlines site (if you prefer) to book.

    Aloha, Jeff

You were right Jeff, I found the deal, $625 tax included HNL-NYC in the middle of the summer. Thank you very much! Aloha :o )

Glad it worked out Sarah. That’s a great price for summer considering the distance. Aloha, Jeff
