Hi Dan,

That's what it says in the post, "one-way plus tax," and that is a good deal. It won't get much cheaper in that market. Alaska is famous for dragging out sales, so it may or may not actually end.

Aloha, Jeff

Jeff/Rob,

Do you guys consider the OAK-OGG fare of $169 to be a great deal? I found dates that work in December, but I get the sense from you guys that fares for the winter will drop later this summer. The sale ends on Wed, would love your thoughts!

by the way, the $169 is one-way before taxes. the RT works out to be just under $360.

Thanks,
Dan

Hi Catherine,

Sorry about your situation. Doing diligent research in advance of any trip is, as you say a very good idea. I think Honokaa is darling, and you might have too if you'd known what to expect. It isn't, however, a town where most visitors would want to spend their Big Island vacation.

hello-- i do not know where to post this but i am here on the big island and have ended up in a horrible predicament and i just wanted to warn fellow travelers of making the same mistake.
i am in honokaa on the big island - was told it was 15 minutes from the beach and 50 min from kona and that the town was in walking distance ------- WRONG !! beach is at least 45 min , kona is about 2 hours and the town is 30 min downhill and about 1 1/2 hours up a steep hill and it rains all the time and roach infested--- BOTTOM LINE -- stay in KONA it is the only place with good weather and beaches -- it is not worth saving money elsewhere and if you must stay elsewhere i suggest you call a realtor or shop owner in the area who will tell the truth about your location--- i have signed a 3 month contract and now have to find a new place --anyway -- i hope no one else has to experience this --- good luck and be diligent. happy travels
