  1. Hi Sarah,

You didn’t say where you’re traveling from, but generally speaking you should book soon. Your dates aren’t considered low season and it could also go up.

    Aloha.

  2. Hi Andrea,

Early November would be better for a two-week stay. Only the first week of December is considered low season at this point. We don’t have any hotel suggestions unfortunately.

    Aloha.

  3. Hi Lynn,

That’s running $523 right now on American, which is quite reasonable. It could go down, but it takes a lot of effort to keep following prices.

    Aloha.

  4. Hi,
My husband & I are thinking about flying to Maui (from Sacramento) either 11/19/14 – 11/26/14 or the week after Thanksgiving (11/28/14 – 12/05/14). What would be the better week?

  5. I am planning on traveling to Hawaii either two weeks mid November or two weeks first of December. Wanting to spend a week on Maui and a week on Kauai. Regarding price, Is it better to fly into one of these islands and out of the other? Or fly in and out of Maui and then grab an inner island flight? Also, any recommendations on accommodations on both islands? Thank you – Andrea

    1. Hi Andrea,

It saves a lot of time if you can avoid inter-island flights. They are also quite costly ($100-$200). Try pricing it both ways.

We don’t have any accommodation recommendations but there are many sources for that including TripAdvisor.

      Aloha.

  6. Hi, my husband and I are planning to visit Oahu around mid September for our 40th anniversary, leaving from Atlanta. Any suggestions on where we should try to leave from after Atlanta. Also what kind of prices we we looking at?

    1. Hi Angela,

      Congratulations.

About mid $800’s with a stop en route or nearly $400 more on the DL nonstop. American/USAir via Phoenix is currently the cheapest.

      Aloha.

  7. Visiting Kauai Dec 13-27, 2014. Flying out of Oakland Ca. Flights are $801.00 each right now. Do you expect the prices to go any lower?

  8. Husband and I are looking to travel to Kauai and Maui the first 2 weeks of September, flying out of Oakland, CA. Flights are about $640 right now, including inter-island flights. Is this a good deal, or should we hold off until later in the summer? We don’t mind checking regularly, just looking for the best deal.

    1. Hi Erika.

It isn’t a great deal so you might try waiting and watching for those dates.

      Aloha.

  9. We fly Alaska out of Oakland because of the direct flight to Kauai. Why cannot Hawiian Air compete with this??
My wife cannot do 8 or 9 hr flights with stop in Seattle or anywhere else because of her back. 5 hr flight from Oakland is just about right..
When Hawiian meets this criteria, AND pricing as advertised we will switch. Looking for that 179 or even $200 each way and we will then consider switching.

    1. Hi Ed.

Hawaiian is flying nonstop from Oakland to Kauai this summer. It may become year round at some point.

We won’t be seeing many if any 200 fares on these routes. It isn’t enough $ to be profitable.

      Aloha.

  10. We are traveling to Maui from Cleveland Dec. 7th -28th. Flights are $1100 and we need to fly the kids out Dec 16-28th those tickets are $1300. Do you think they will go down?

    1. Hi Suzi,

Not if the airlines can help it – and they are pretty smart. Tough situation – bad dates for a deal. Not sure what to suggest other than if you’re set on coming and those are the dates, maybe better to buy and never look back. If you’re flexible on the outcome, you can try waiting and watching.

      Aloha.
