we are leaving sacramento feb2 2018 for 7 nights in maui. should we wait for a winter / early spring sale?
will the prices drop due to southwest flying early 2018? we are waiting until late summer to see what happens, good idea?

    1. Hi Mike.

Definitely don’t count on SWA for your dates. $362 1-stop or $484 nonstop. Excellent prices – wouldn’t wait.

      Aloha.

  2. Hi,
I’m looking to travel to Oahu in late November. Is this a good time to travel and are flights are reasonable during this time? I’ll be flying from New Orleans.

  3. We are planning a trip to Maui and Kauai in either May or Sep of 2018 from New York City. Which month, island and airline would you recommend? What would be a good price?

    Thank you.
    Olivia

    1. Hi Olivia.

It doesn’t really matter as you’ll be using connecting flights no matter what airlines you choose. $800’s would be a good target.

      Aloha.

  4. Aloha. My wife and I would like to plan a trip to Kauai in May of 2018 from Dallas, Texas, flying out of DFW. I would like to ask you If May is outside of a peak season? We are looking at May to at least skip the high spring break season. Could you give me your thoughts on the cost of RT fare for me please? Mahalo

    1. Hi Kalvin.

May is a good time in terms of pricing and fewer tourists. Target price of low $700’s.

      Aloha.

  5. 4 of us are planning a trip from Seattle to Kona late March through the 7th of April 2018. We have noticed that flights seem very expensive right now. We typically fly Alaska Air or Hawaiian Air. Are rates inflated because we are looking so far in advance? Or is it due to Spring Break? What should our target ticket prices be for these dates or should we book soon because they may go up or even sell out?

    1. Hi Neil.

Spring break is a moving target but will definitely impact 2nd half of March and early April. That appears to be the problem and thus those dates may or may not ever go down. And yes they could go up or sell out.

      Aloha.

  6. Hi! We will be attending a conference the first week of January, 2018 on the Big Island, departing from Detroit (and 2 from Portland). Unfortunately – it is during a high demand time – but the thought of escaping Detroit in January is just heavenly! 🙂 Any suggestions on tickets – particularly out of Detroit? Thanks so much!!!

    1. Hi Patti,

Prices that week vary depending on which day, but generally from $800 and up. Delta has the best fares as of today.

      Aloha.

  7. Hello me and my fiance are getting married new years and flying to Kauai January 2-9 2018 for honeymoon. Was wondering what the best time to get flights from IAH(Houston) to Lihue or cheapest way. It seems as of now everything is about 1100. Thank you

    1. Hi Landon.

Departure is too close to holiday for better pricing. Lots of choices in the $900’s and fare is relation to how long it takes to get there. The faster the go, the more you pay.

      Aloha.

  8. Hello, flying from San Diego to Maui….just a short trip leaving Sept 9th returning the 14th. Alaska Airlines flies direct and currently priced at $598 round trip. Other airlines offer one stop one hour layover priced around $440 round trip if purchased now. Do you feel that’s my best bet to purchase now or should I wait? I realize you don’t have a crystal ball 🙂 but appreciate your expertise and recommendations. Thank you so very much.

    1. Hi Rick.

Seems that the significant premium on nonstop will remain but to its limited availability. Thus not sure they will have need to lower the price, especially with a Saturday departure. Your dates are $412 with one-stop and that too probably won’t decrease.

      Aloha.

  9. Aloha!

We are planning to return to either Oahu or Maui the 3rd or 4th week of April, 2018. We can leave from either Portland or Seattle but prefer Portland. When is the best time to buy?

    Thank you!

  10. Hello –

Please provide your suggestions for an intimate wedding location around the holidays in December. We will be traveling with 5 adults, 3 teenagers and 2 toddlers and looking for airfare and lodging deals – traveling from LA, Austin TX, Dallas TX.

This is the first trip to Hawaii and it’s for our wedding and family vacation for the holidays and want to make it fun for all.

    Thanks!

    Lisa

    1. Hi Lisa.

That’s outside what we do here. There are a plethora of locations and officiants who can help guide you. You might start by narrowing it down to one island.

      Aloha.
