  1. I saw flights direct from LAX to Kauai <$400 which have since increased. Is it safe to assume that anything under $400 is a great deal and should be moved on. I thought the sales didn't really start until August so I waited and now I somewhat regret that. Please let me know. Thanks

  2. Headed to Maui May 17or 18 through May 24 or 25th 2015. We can fly out SMF, OAK, SJC or SFO. Seems Alaska and Hawaiian may be our best bets. Should I book this far out (July 2014) orwait as we get closer? Also, what is reasonable expectation to pay, so I’ll know when a “deal” comes along. Looks like it’s ranging $525-$550.
Can I expect the far could go to $450 or is that unlikely…boy oh boy do I miss Bings fare predictor.

    1. Hi Milissa,

Fares for those dates will probably come down, but who knows when and by how much. So bird in hand theory might indicate buying at current rates and putting your mind on something else. It depends on your patience for this sort of thing.

      Aloha.

  3. Hi,

I was looking at flights from BOS to HNL or BOS to OGG at the end of Sept like 9/18-9/22/14 and the flights are mid $800 to $900. Should I wait?

    Thanks,
    Flora

    1. Hi Flora,

Boston almost never sees deals to Hawaii. Not likely to drop by much if at all.

      Aloha.

  4. Hello
Family and I are traveling to Honolulu Dec 5-14. Airfare Prices are around $850-1000 from NY/NJ. Should we wait to buy? Thanks!

    1. Hi Alan,

The return date isn’t low season. It is running just under $800 nonstop as of today. That probably won’t go down.

      Aloha.

  5. I’m planning on visiting Hawaii from a place called Guam. Any idea on how much it would be for a one way ticket from Guam to Hawaii? If so, when’s the best time to travel?

    1. Hi Romeo,

Guam to Hawaii starts at about $1,000 round trip via Philippine Airlines and goes up from there. Unless a deal arises, which isn’t likely, it won’t matter what time of year you visit.

      Aloha.

  6. We are going to Kauai’i in mid-February 2015. Flying out of Oakland ideally but SFO is ok and for a deal we’d fly out of San Jose. We’ve got 2 little kids so a non-stop is ideal. Any recommendations on when we’re likely to find the best prices?

    1. Hi Rebecca,

Mid-February is high season as you may already know. All of those airports have pretty good competitive pricing, with options at just about $500. It might be easiest to grab one of those and not keep waiting for the potential of a drop. Just our thoughts.

      Aloha.

  7. Aloha-

I’m travelling to Maui with my wife and 2 kids for Thanksgiving from New York City. I’ve seen the fares go down to $1,045. Should I book?

    Thanks-

    1. Hi Cham,

Mid-week pricing starts in low $800’s but weekends are over $1k. No reason for airlines to adjust that as far as we can see, unless it is quite last minute.

      Aloha.

  8. Hello,

Sorry I didn’t mention where I was flying out of…. We are booked to visit Kona, Hawaii Oct 12-19 it’s 2 Adults and 2 Kids we are looking to fly out of Oakland Ca I was planning to buy them the first week of August ……. Do u think if I wait longer it will be better?

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Sarah,

For your dates there is considerable potential for the price going down from its current level. You might want to wait even longer to book if needed as those dates are not in high demand.

      Aloha.

  9. My husband and I are going to Kauai for two weeks in early October. We typically fly Alaska Airlines from Seattle to Lihue, but my husband wants to fly Hawaiian Airlines this trip. Pricing does seem a bit higher, but we have heard great things about flying with Hawaiian. We have already purchased our accommodations for that time frame, but are looking for the best time to purchase the airfare for “fall savings”. Is it smart to wait and watch a bit longer or would you recommend buying it soon? Is there a typical time when prices drop after the summer?

    1. Hi Lori,

Yes October is a month you can typically wait safely to purchase tix for. The nonstop on Alaska will easily save you 3 hours in each direction, but Hawaiian is a fine carrier.

      Aloha.

  10. My boyfriend and I need to go to Hawaii around November 5-12 for my cousins wedding. I found tickets for $508 from LAX. I’ve been watching the price for about two months now and it has dropped from almost $650 to $508. Should I chance waiting for it to drop in price?

    1. Hi Nicole,

The price might or might not come down. LA has been stubborn about deals. Allegiant is $314 RT by the way.

      Aloha.
