wanting to fly from PDX to KOA June 11th rtn June 25th, price now about 800 rnd trip on Alaska should I buy now or wait? I know it’s summer but hope rates rates would drop a bit, but as I’ve been watching not moving at all. Thanks for your input

Hi! We are planning to travel from Seattle to Kauai March 2-12. Currently, nonstop flights (not overnight) are 684$. This price has not changed over last 4-5 days. When can I expect to see it go down? The flight for exactly a week prior- Feb 23rd, is about 100$ less.

As of today I see $591 on the Alaska nonstop for your dates. It may not get any better than that; it’s hard to say. You can save up to $150 if you return via Maui on Hawaiian.

I’m traveling to Kauai from NYC on June 6th, plan to hop to Maui for a wedding on June 13th and then will fly from Maui back to NYC on the 15th. Currently, Hawaiian Air prices this at $1,022 for direct flights. Should I book this now or wait for a deal to appear in a month or two?

For your dates it isn’t likely that the price will drop. On the other hand it probably won’t go up either so you should also be okay to wait. Your outbound is low season but your return is high season.

Hello! First-timers very eager, here! We have found a price from Montgomery, AL to Honolulu from May 25-June 8 for $774 RT. It’s surprisingly lower than our regular go-to, Atlanta. Do you think ATL area flights will go down between now and the “regular window”…i.e. day 54–three months before travel? We are right on the cusp and hopping between buying or waiting! Really no deals from Montgomery or Atlanta to Hawaii unfortunately. Cheapest today is $788 on Delta from Atlanta. Don’t know what regular window you’re referring to, but unless there’s a turf warm, it is unlikely it will go down.

Virtually no deals between Orlando and Hawaii. Looks like about $750 for your flights. You can start checking hotels now since they should already be accommodating for off-season rates.

My wife and i want to travel to Maui during Thanksgiving week 2015 (nov. 24+).
Prices seem way high now … about $900 per round trip from Oakland. that sounds way too high. when can i expect lower fares?

Hi Chris,
To avoid that price you can’t leave on November 20th or 21st. Leave either by the 19th or on the 24th and you’ll find reasonable airfares on both carriers. Return dates are not a problem price-wise.

Thanksgiving is tricky and it won’t be entirely cheap. Leaving on Thanksgiving is good but coming back on the 1st isn’t. So on Alaska Airlines that is $575. If you come back on the 3rd, it’s $100 less.
