  1. Hello,

My husband and I are planning on traveling to Hilo this June the 14th to the 18th. The best deal that I can find out of Portland, OR is around $710 per person round trip. Does this seem like a good deal? And when is the best time to purchase tickets for this time?

    1. Hi Heather,

That’s high season travel and the price is about right. Buy at any point but probably better sooner than later.

      Aloha.

  2. Hi! We are trying to travel to the Big Island from Abq in May. Dates are flexible I have been looking at flights between the 17tg-24th and they seem to be right aroun $700. Is that a good deal? Or will they drop a little more if we wait to purchase? Thank you for the info!

    1. Hi Nicole,

There is no harm in waiting for your dates and it could come down. No guarantee of course.

      Aloha.

  3. We are planning a trip from Phoenix to Honolulu for two weeks in mid-July. I have a travel credit on Hawaiian that I would like to take advantage of, and right now round-trip airfares are $614. Should I wait to buy, or is this a good price? Thanks!

    1. Hi Joanna,

That isn’t a bad fare for your high season dates. It is not likely to go down.

      Aloha.

  4. I am planning to travel from BOS to HNL on Aug. 22 – 29. Right now, the airfare is $783 round trip. Is this a good price?

    1. Hi Judy,

There is no problem with waiting to buy for those dates. It may or may not go down but it is unlikely that it will go up.

      Aloha.

  5. Hi….my husband and I are honeymooning in Hawaii. We booked our stay already for June 6-13 but need to know when the best time to buy our flight into LIH. We saw a flight from FLL to SEA to LIH for 1000.00 each person? Can we get better flying from FL? we want to stay overnight in Seattle the day before we reach HI. Any and all suggestions welcome, thanks.

    1. Hi Buddafly,

You’re return is in high season. Not sure you will do much better on price. To coordinate the overnight might work without a stopover and consider enlisting the help of a travel agent if you aren’t familiar with such things.

      Aloha.

  6. I will be going to Oahu mid June from Seattle and will be staying about 9 days. It will be my first time to Hawaii. Right now tickets are about $700. Do you think the ticket prices will go down?

    1. Hi Brenda,

Not for your dates unfortunately unless it is at the very last minute. That is high season.

      Aloha.

  7. We are coming to HNL for the funeral of a favorite aunt who is in hospice there. We actually do not need to be there for the funeral. (Ashes into the Pacific) But we need to come and help her 65 year old son ( who needs help). Aunt Eleanor is sorta comatose and has been given 2 weeks.

My question is what the cheap season is. From what I have read here the Spring Break season starts 3/15.

Other question: what is best carrier/price we can expect from Nashville (BNA)?

    Thanks for your help

    1. Hi Ray,

Avoid late March and early April and you should be better off. The best price is usually about $700 roundtrip. That’s on United with 2 stops. One stop costs at least $100 more.

      Aloha.

  8. We live in the Midwest. We assume we will need to fly to the west coast then go on to Hawaii from there. Which airport along the west coast runs the cheapest to fly into from the midwest and which island airport is the most reasonable to fly into in getting there? Would like to island hop as well. Which islands are the best to be sure an visit while there? Thanks!

    1. Hi Judy,

The midwest doesn’t get deal to Hawaii very often. So San Jose, Oakland and then San Diego, in that order would be your best connection points. As for which islands, they are all good. Consider reading the Hawaii Revealed series of guidebooks, which are often available at public libraries.

      Aloha.

  9. Aloha!

My fiance and I are looking to fly nonstop to Oahu from Houston from Dec 12-23. Unfortunately, our dates aren’t flexible. From there, we plan on going to Kauai and the Big Island. When do you recommend purchasing tickets? Direct flights around that time are going for ~$900-1000 right now, but I know it’s very early.

    1. Hi Helen,

Unfortunately it isn’t likely that the price will go down for those dates. You might just consider buying it all sooner than later, including the inter-island flights.

      Aloha.
