  1. Hi im looking to travel to Hawaii for the first time this summer! I wanted to get the best deal as possible i wanted to know if i should travel the end of July or Mid August? And what about possible hotels??

BTW i’ll be traveling from the East Coast!!!

i need all the info i could possibly get!! Thank you!!!

    1. Hi DJ,

Best dates: “August 17 through November 19, 2015.”
When to buy: “Late Summer and Fall 2015 travel – look for Hawaii deals to start appearing by early Summer 2015.”

We don’t recommend hotels but can suggest you check out the Hawaii Revealed series of guidebooks. They are very useful and are often obtained at libraries on on Amazon.

Enjoy your first time in Hawaii!

      Aloha

  2. Hi! My cousins and I are looking to travel to Hawaii for my birthday June 5-9 of 2015. We would be coming from oakland, San jose, or San Francisco ca. I checked prices online and some flights are going for $500 round trip. However a friend of mine who travels back and forth from Hawaii to the Bay Area has told me to look for flights to Hawaii around marc because he says he books his around that time for around $350-400. Is that accurate? Or should I just stick with the original plan and book early as possible and not wait until March? Thank you!

    1. Trina,

The plan to wait a bit might just work out for early June dates. Probably no harm in trying. Please let us know how it goes.

      Aloha

  3. We are planning a family trip – 6 of us – from Chicago into either Oahu or Maui on 7/23, returning on 8/1. Prices have been fluctuating a bit over the past few weeks but seem to be creeping slowly upward. Is it time to buy or can I expect fares to drop some? What’s the latest you’d wait? Thanks!

    1. Hi Joel,

It is past time to buy for July travel to Hawaii. Chances of pricing declining are extremely low.

      Aloha.

  4. We’re going to Kona (KOA) in mid-June from Las Vegas (LAS). Dates are flexible, but would be based around June 9 – June 17. Flights are around $900/ticket for non-red-eye and without a lot of stops. Some friends went last year around the same time for ~$600/ticket.

Any advice? Will they go down any? Should I wait to buy?

    Thanks,
    Brett

    1. Hi Brett,

While prices could go down for your June dates, it isn’t really likely. The reason, as mentioned previously, is that airlines underpriced Hawaii airfares somewhat last year in relation to greater than anticipated demand. They will probably be loathe to bargain unless at the last minute. You can wait and take your chances, but it definitely isn’t a sure thing.

      Aloha.

  5. I’m trying to fly from LAX to HNL somewhere around 8/8 – 8/16. Typically what would be considered a good deal for round trip during this time? I know we’re missing the late summer deals by a couple weeks and the best I can seem to find is around 700ish so far.

    Thanks,

    Linda

    1. Hi Linda,

About $600 to $700 is probably about right. It might come down a little later, but that’s all depending on supply/demand, and isn’t a sure thing.

      Aloha.

  6. Aloha. We are looking into going to Hawaii for the first time for both of us October 1st through the 8th 2015. Flying from IND to OGG. When would be the best time to buy, and what prices should we expect. Right now I am seeing around $1000 each round trip. Is this normal? Will it go down closer to October? We are on a tight budget. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

    1. Hi John.

Good choice of low season, mid-week dates. The cheapest right now is about $900. Hopefully you might see somewhere in the $700 area. The best time to start watching is in early to mid-summer, when the airlines change focus to fall travel.

      Aloha.

  7. Hi! My family is flying to Hawaii for a wedding over 4th of July. Prices have been pretty steady at about $634 per person from Oakland. Any idea if they are likely to drop or are we probably out of luck with the holiday weekend?

  8. Hi!

I’m looking to a flight to LIH for my honeymoon May 25-June 2. As everyone has commented, it seems prices have skyrocketed in the past week or two.

I’ll be flying out of Pittsburgh. Any chance the prices will drop again? This was determined to be the best time to book a flight for us.

If they were to drop, what price should I expect to pay per ticket round trip?

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Leo,

Price fluctuations are based on current supply and demand. If prices come down you might hope for $700’s.

      Aloha.

  9. Have rooms booked for Dec 19 to 26 of this year. Flying out of Las Vegas. to Oahu. When do you think is the best time to buy tickets? What should we expect to pay (ballpark figure) and which airline do you feel is the best flying in between from Vegas to Oahu?

    Thanks

    1. Hi Jed,

High season. Rule of thumb is to buy as far in advance as possible. Low $800’s on Delta with stops or nonstop on Hawaiian for about $100 more.

      Aloha.

  10. Hello

We were waiting for the post spring break specials to fly from Vegas to Honolulu on May 10.

We’ve seen the prices increase to AUD 580 each for a non stop flight with Hawaiian (preferred), are they still likely to come down or should we buy now?

    Thanks
