  1. Traveling to LIH. From San Diego September 24th to October 1st. When is the best time to get the best rates? Right now I can find $261 one way.

    1. Hi Sadie,

The answer is already in the post. $520 isn’t a bad price in any event, if you’d like to buy sooner. It probably won’t get significantly better.

      Aloha.

  2. Hello,

I am looking at flying from Seattle to Honolulu in September (9/5-9/12), right now the tickets are around $584 per person and I would need to purchase two tickets. Is this the cheapest it will be or should I wait a little bit longer before purchasing the tickets?

    1. Hi Anna,

The time frames for purchase are within the post and yes, they are likely to go lower. Seattle has lots of competition which should should benefit from.

      Aloha.

  3. looking for non-stop flights from ATL, Ga to Honolulu, leaving Sep 2, return 9th. When is best time to buy?

    1. Hi Mary,

Only infrequent deals occur between Atlanta and Hawaii. Best pricing should be available in May through July. You can always hope for a sale however and they have occurred in the past.

      Aloha.

  4. Will prices from LAX to Kauai go down for traveling in early July?
Right now they’re selling for around $680.
When is the best time to buy for that time frame?

    1. Hi Erica,

Prices are running in the low $700’s, as is indicative of a strong summer market. It is unlikely to decline. Early July is peak travel and peak pricing for Hawaii. Accommodations may also be a challenge.

      Aloha.

  5. I am looking to purchase 4 tickets to Honolulu from the ny city area to visit our son who is stationed there. We are looking to travel the end of may to beginning of June. And I was hoping to spend approx $500 per ticket for round trip. Can you help me out

    1. Hi Pamela,

Prices for that period are running just over $700. Not sure if they will go down, but they probably won’t go up if you want to trying waiting until spring break to buy.

      Aloha.

  6. Hi, We’re a family of five interesting in staying at Aulani from Denver either this year or next year. Are your tips/ guidelines work for next year also? When is the cheapest time/ quietest time to stay at Aulani? Because we exceed the maximum occupancy, we have to stay at one bedroom villa there. And for May 2015 we’re looking at $5200 either with Alaska or Delta vacation packages. Does the price sound reasonable? I figured the vacation bundle prices are more reasonable than buying separately. Also, are Aulani specials, like stay 3 nights get one free, actually a real money saver?

    1. Hi Alia,

We don’t follow Aulani or travel packages like these per se. Sorry to not be of help.

      Enjoy your trip.

      Aloha.

  7. I’m planning to travel end of June from nyc area to Maui. The tickets were about 900 and have just gone up to 1000. Do you think they will go down again or will they start going up? Thanks in advance.

    1. Hi G,

There is no reason to expect that they will go down and yes they could inch towards $1,200+.

      Aloha.

  8. We recently booked a Hawaiian cruse for Sept 2016 and plan to spend a few days in Hawaii at the end of the cruise. Would it be wise to book flights and hotels as soon as possible or should we wait.

  9. I am seeing flights from Philadelphia (one-way) to KOA at $500 in late june…Should I wait?

    1. Hi John,

That’s the right price for that time frame. It isn’t likely to go down and availability could become an issue.

      Aloha.

  10. I’ve been pricing 2-island packages for months for our honeymoon in July.

It seems coming the day after the 4th will save us some money.

Right now, for about $7k, I can get:
    – flights for two from IAD/Virginia
    – 7 nights at Kapalua Villas, Gold Ocean View
    – 4 nights at Koa Kea on Kauai, Ocean View
    – transfer flight
    – rental car with an SUV for Kauai

Wondering if it may get much better…. When I just go price an individual flight, they’re still pretty high… but I’m tired of continually searching. 🙂

    1. Hi Mitch,

We can’t speak to accommodation choices or prices. Regarding the airlines, it looks like the prices are running right about $1,000 which is what is expected for July.

      Aloha.

    2. I ended up locking things in last week. We are going to stay 8 nights on Maui instead of 7. 🙂

The flights have gone up $170 per person since then…!!

I had concerns as the gas prices have seemed to bottom out… that the flights may start ticking up.

I mean if you really want to roll the dice, you could do something last minute, but seeing as this is my honeymoon, that’s just not in the cards.

      Thanks for your comment!
