TSA: “Leave Your Shoes On”?

TSA is once again testing scanners that are capable of detecting items hidden in shoes. Here’s a picture of one of the new devices:

This is something we’ve been waiting for a long time. Last year, TSA shelved the idea of a shoe scanner (see image below) after tests at Orlando’s airport indicated it was not reliable in its detection capabilities. Apparently, General Electric went back to the drawing board. We all hope that this new L3 walk-through scanner proves to be workable at last.
