  1. Aloha Kind Folks!
We would like to travel late Nov 14 from DTW or GRR to HNL returning Nov 23. Wondering if you could please give us advice on whether we should continue to wait to see if prices reduce? Everything I’ve researched so far is running around $1200.
Thank you for any info you can provide.

    1. Hi Jacqueline.

Is lowest price the objective, regardless of comfort? 14th is okay but return date would need to be 22nd or 27th to save much. Prices could then be as low as $770 (with a.m. departure on 14th), but with two stops. For your date and time requirements, doubtful it will improve.

      Aloha.

  2. Aloha,

Do you think we will see any deals flying out of either Minneapolis or Kansas City to any of the islands in 2018? We are very flexible on dates & islands.

    Thank You ,
    Julie

    1. Hi Julie.

There are the very rare sales from MSP, but not possible to predict. Probably plan on $600RT+ to Oahu or Maui and not a big difference from either airport. Price is largely dependent on duration. Try to get under 12 hours each way for that price.

      Aloha.

  3. Greetings

We are headed to the Kahena Beach area in October 2018. We already have a house for a week. Looking at the week of 10/7 or 10/14 then 3 days in Honolulu. Suggestions for which week? Do you think airfare will be about the same? Flying from Milwaukee or Chicago. We could also get out to the west coast and fly from there.
    Thank you!
    Scott

    1. Hi Scott.

There is no Kahena Beach so not sure if you mean Makena or Kehena. In any event that’s Maui, so think you’re planning on flying into Maui and out of Oahu if we read you right. Earlier week is currently pricing slightly better although that could even out in the end. Looks like $750 to $850 at present with MKE pricing slightly lower. Could improve by waiting, if you’re flying Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays. If so, then think about buying early summer. Otherwise perhaps better to buy now.

      Aloha.

  4. Hello,
So I have the opportunity to go to Oahu late July 2018 or late March 2019.

What is the better of the two to travel from Ohio? –and also inter island….as well as from an accommodations stand point?

We would also like to do road to Hana in Maui and volcanic rock park on the Big Island.

We are seeing very high hotel prices, averaging $400 – $500 per night…. so starting to wonder if this is doable for us…

Would love to hear your thoughts to help us make good use of our resources too see these two things. We will start in Oahu as my husband has work there, but then will extend our stay. My son and I will join him at the end of his work.

Thank you kindly. We are not very familiar with the area.

    1. Hi Dominique.

Well late July is out of the question if budget is an issue. That is peak travel season and costs. Late March might be okay but it is too early to determine exactly when peak travel dates will be for spring break. Thus that might or might not be workable from a budgetary perspective. https://beatofhawaii.com/the-cheapest-time-to-fly-to-hawaii/ is the place to follow for all of our timing updates.

      Aloha.

  5. These deals were still active from Sacramento, as of tonight 4/18. I just booked a flight for 2 to Maui, through priceline.com for $366 per person round trip on United for 3 weeks in June. They should be good until the flights are booked, from what I understand. It hasn’t been this cheap to fly to Hawaii in the Summer for years!

  6. We are scheduled to be in Hanalei from May 15-29; we would appreciate your prognostication on where the recovery efforts will be at that time. In other words, is this going to be the vacation from hell, or do you feel Hanalei will be will on the way to recovery?

    1. Hi Dennis.

Complicated to answer. Hanalei is there and the beach will be fine. But some streets won’t be accessible by then. Also travel on the highway beyond Hanalei may not have reopened. Hard to say – and we’d add no one knows quite yet. It is all still being assessed and planned.

      Aloha.

  7. I’ve followed the links you have posted and the prices are not what your showing, WHY?!! I’m flying from either Portland or Seattle to Honolulu June. HELP!!!
