What do you think of the $399 (all in) Alaska Airlines fare for 11/24-12/3 from Oakland to Kona? It’s been around for a while, but is it pretty good for dates around Thanksgiving? Thanks!
I think its quite reasonable and would take it. That’s especially true since its to Kona and even a great deal to Honolulu would cost another $100+ RT to get to the Big Island.

Booking now! Thanks for your advice and wonderful website.
Aloha Rob & Jeff – Our family (8 adults and 3 kids) is planning a trip to
Kauai – 12/23 – 1/2. We will stay at the Westin Princeville Villas. Any
suggestions with airfare? Prices continue to go up. We would fly out of SEA & PDX. Should we still check every wednesday a midnight for best deals? Will prices decrease in NOV?
Mahalo in advance for your help/support/wisdom.
Michael
Hi Michael,
The best price I see today is $783 using Delta/Northwest. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, that fare is normal for your peak season travel dates, and we rarely see discounting then. There is some possibility, I’d guess 30%, of somewhat better pricing for your dates. On the other hand, I see fares as high as $1300, so things could move up as well.
Because you have more than 10 people traveling, I would contact the airlines group travel desks directly (Delta, Hawaiian, and Alaska at the least) to see if they will do a better priced group fare for you.
Otherwise, I’d probably buy at $783.
Let me know if a group fare pans out. Good luck.
Aloha, Jeff
Jeff – I will call the group travel desks today and keep you posted.
Many thanks,
Michael
