Here is yet another excellent Waikiki hotel deal. Paired with any of the fantastic airfare deals that are still in effect, you’ll have a Hawaii vacation at a small fraction of the normal cost.
The Ohana Waikiki Beachcomber has just completed a $12 Million makeover which included all of its 495 guest rooms. These now feature flat screen TV’s, new furnishings, granite countered bathrooms, refrigerators and coffee makers. All rooms have private lanais.
The property is located directly on Kalakaua Avenue, and is just across the street from the beach.
We plan to try it ourselves soon, and give you a trip report. In the meanwhile, if you get a chance to stay there (or already have), please give us your feedback. The reviews I read are quite good, but as always, there are a lot of apparently fake ones to contend with.
If you work in the travel industry or live in Hawaii (as many of our readers do), rates are even less.

Hey guys,
Our room had a mini-fridge but no microwave. We loved the complimentary, wired internet access in the room which helped in our daily “road trips” around the island. Beachcomber also provided two free water bottles (redeemed at a lobby shop) and a nylon beach tote that came in handy. Parking was valet only, I can’t say enough how friendly the staff was. No complimentary breakfast here, Jimmy Buffett’s restaurant had a breakfast buffet, but we found a great restaurant behind the hotel off of Kuhio Ave. where we ate breakfast every morning for half the price. I was the one who researched and booked the Beachcomber based on location, affordability and complimentary internet, and my husband was very happy with my choice. Before we even left, he was already talking about our next trip to Oahu, we would definitely stay at the Beachcomber again.
I wanted to share my experience at the Ohana Waikiki Beachcomber. My husband and I just returned from spending our honeymoon in Honolulu, and we spent our entire time (6 nights) at this hotel. We booked a standard room with a king size bed, our room was on the 6th floor, facing, north, northwest with what would best be described as a city view. We could see the Royal Hawaiian hotel with a peak of the ocean to our left, and a city and mountain view to the right. The view was okay, but we didn’t spend much time in the room. This was actually the second room we were in, we initially checked into a room on the 4th floor, but found standing water in the tub. When our bellhop arrived with our luggage, he quickly called down to the front desk and escorted us to the 6th floor room. Needless to say, the staff was friendly and always helpful. The hotel served as a good base for us as we rented a car and spent the majority of our days exploring the island. At night, we took advantage of the location and walked around, we had great dining options within walking distance. At night we could hear the live music from Jimmy Buffet’s restaurant, but it didn’t bother us, we were in Hawaii!!!
