  1. New Routes for 2018. Is there any information that may indicate that ONTARIO,CA.airport may be getting considered as a New route to the Islands as it had been used in previous years by Hawaiian Air ?
    Thank You

    1. Hi John.

While anything is possible, we’ve heard no indication that Hawaiian or anyone else plans to fly from Ontario. Sorry.

      Aloha.

  2. Always reading your emails and love them. I have been watching the flights for some time, but they don’t seem to be changing. We will be flying Denver to Lihue 11/2, returning 11/16 (thought Thursday travel would get us better fares). If we find a crazy good fare from the west coast, we will get to the west coast separately to take advantage. Should we continue to watch and wait, or is it time to pull the plug and make our reservations? Thanks so much for your insight.

    1. Hi Darlene.

Thank you. From $772 on your dates. It’s too early for new flights to impact this trip but hopefully your next trip. Might improve if you wait and availability should remain good. Target price about $100 less than current.

      Aloha.

    2. Darlene, I’m not as up on it as Beat of Hawaii. But we have bought our tickets from Denver to Hawaii in August for our November December trips and gotten great deals $450 to$550 round trip each time not saying that it’s a given. But it seems to have worked out so far. These guys are great for getting my info so I keep reading their posts!!!

  3. We have a vacation planned from 12/27 -1/4 to Kauai. A couple of questions:
With information regarding airlines opening additional routes and potential lower fares, when should we book our tickets?
We live in the middle of California, which departure point will bring the best value? We are flexible with airport departure.
We will benefit from the potential lower fares?
Any other insight feedback would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Kelly

    1. Hi Kelly.

You’re traveling over Christmas which will not be impacted by next year’s changes. Ideally would have been bought early in 2017. At this point 1-stop from $800’s and nonstop from $1,100’s from all bay area airports. Could improve but you could also find yourself not flying if you wait. Tough call.

      Aloha.

  4. We are looking to go around spring break next year from the Bay Area. Any predictions as to how low prices could go?

  5. I am planning a trip between Jan 10th to March 31st for a week. When is the cheapest/ best time, during that time frame, to plan my vacation?

    1. I will be traveling from Tennessee, by the way, and the closest airports are Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville, and Atlanta.

  6. Thank you for this info on fares. I’ve been searching for lower fares and this is good news – I can wait!

  7. Any suggestions on cheapest days of the week to fly if coming from east coast (DC)? Looking to book for summer 2018. Prices still look very high for now.

  8. We are looking to travel to Maui Feb/Mar of 2018. When do you suggest we buy tickets? I’m planner so waiting to long makes me crazy but i also want to get the best deal possible.

  9. Hi my name is Rod.. we’re planning our 10th anniversary and are going to the big island 4/1/18. Coming from lax when do you think the best timetobuy tickets would be. family of 4 using Hawaiian miles plus $ on hawaiian air thank you

    1. Hi Rod.

4/1 is spring break. That may be a problem, but given all the changes coming next year, no one can say for sure. Using points will further complicate the possibility of waiting to buy.

For guaranteed results, you probably have to book now. Otherwise, if you’re flexible, then wait until we see fares for spring which should be from now through fall.

      Aloha.

  10. To the woman Nancy. Are you clearing your web browser after looking at airfares? If you’ve looked before and don’t clear them there is a chance that the prices will be higher since it knows you are coming back to look at airfares again.
