  1. We are going to Maui in May. You have listed on Alaska air $139.00 one way. I can not find this amount on Alaska. Only thing I found was $ 580.00 round trip. Please advise me, Thank you so much. Paula

    1. Hi Paul.

You did not say where you are traveling from. From San Diego departures at that price on May 1, 2, 8, 9, 14. And from Oakland May 6. Multiple return date combinations.

      Aloha.

  2. I need the last week of June – June 24-29 to be exact. Fares are still high – we were hoping to pay less than $500/rt. Do you think they will go down? We are flying from San Francisco to Honolulu. Any insight would be much appreciated!

  3. HI,
We are wanting to book right after Christmas. Unfortunately the rentals are going fast.
Are airfares typically much higher than as well like back into the $500’s ?
    Thank you

        1. Hi Wendy.

$468 nonstop on Alaska. If you’d rather wait, then there’s room for that to “possibly” come by by up to $100. On the other hand that might not happen in your market, and if it doesn’t, inventory/choices might be less.

          Aloha.

  4. Hi! I see you have rates listed today for $129 from San Diego to Kona-travel dates until June… we are flexible with end of May to late June but I’m not seeing anything less then $450 RT???

    Thanks for your help,
    Tasha

    1. Hi Natasha.

The post says $159, not $129. There are a few of those still available in May. Last outbound is May 18, with many return options until June 13.

      Aloha.

  5. Please, a word-
For those like me who’ve waited years for Southwest to truly become the domestic airline to the southwesternmost state in the union, the rollout is far from complete except for those happy West-Coasters for whom Hawai’i is a favored playground.
Yesterday I tried booking a round-tripper, and got a superb summertime buy on the outbound leg, but couldn’t locate a return of any kind, even though living in the 7th-largest city in the U.S. .. and the same fate awaits MSP and other large populations served by SWA. Most all of us east of Vegas are halted for the time being from comin’ home. I phoned a reservations agent who could get me back to Houston Hobby but no connecting flight, so I’d have to overnight.. and where’s the savings in that for a loyal customer? Certainly is apparent that there is schedule reassignment work to complete!
    Mahalo-

    1. Hi Nick.

Thanks for your comment today and all of your others over the years.

We concur that it would be very good if Southwest could just state what the current situation is and their plans in that regard. We have had so many comments similar to yours, expressing frustration.

      Aloha.

  6. Hi. We are flying from Boston to Honolulu August 13 home from Kona to Boston September 12, 2019. The cheapest price I can get today is $664.00. Should I wait to book or do you think that is a good price? Thank you so much.

    1. Hi Nancy.

On just checking, we find from $617 RT on your dates (multiple carriers). Seems that lowest it might go is low to mid $500’s. Since you’re flying during the week and not on weekends, it would be safe to wait and see what happens.

      Aloha.

  7. Do you know when tickets will be going on sale fo San Diego’s to Honolulu? We are try to go in August. Thank you.

    1. Hi Brenda.

We do think it will be very soon – as in within the next few weeks or sooner. Only they know for certain however.

      Aloha.

      1. Aloha!

I am trying to book a one way ticket from Kahului to San Diego on May 31st. The price was $199 and now it’s up to almost $300. Do you know why this is possibly? Maybe because the southwest flights are sold out? Do you think they will drop again?

        Mahalo!

        1. Hi Jenna.

That’s the start of a holiday weekend. You can try waiting and see when SW starts flying, but not sure it will be time. No we don’t think that prices will drop unless SW is flying that route at that time. And even then, not sure they will heavily discount that day.

          Aloha.

  8. With all the stirring of the pot surrounding the “SWA”effect”, this question will prob’ly get lost in the shuffle here, but I would sincerely appreciate if you’d caption the wonderful photos you post on this site, so those of us who’ve come to the islands again & again would recall the places, relive and rejoice in our memories??.. Thanks much-

    1. Hi Nick.

We do try to remember to say where they are from. Sorry about those times we forget. And thanks for being a regular on our site!

      Aloha.

  9. Hello. None of your links show which days travel is that price from said locale. Can you provide which days have travel for $139 from San Diego?
