  1. Again, no accommodation for thse with natural immunity, which has been proven to be more effective than the vaccines.

    1. Exactly; PER CDC, vaccine efficacy wanes after 2-3 months. Natural immunity can last a lifetime. I really don’t think people want or even should have to be injected every 2-3 months with this shot that no one knows the long term effects. So far, the immediate reactions have been terrifying.

    2. Actually, recent studies are showing that natural immunity post-Covid wanes more rapidly than the vaccine. It would be wise to get the vaccine, especially in light of Delta and future variants. I’m not an epidemiologist – but my wife is!

      1. Do you have studies that show this? The current studies from Israel show natural immunity was 27 times more effective than vaccinated immunity in preventing symptomatic infections.

    3. I agree. There should be some allowance for those with natural immunity. I had the first Moderna vaccine but became violently ill off and on for 2 months. My doctor agreed that I should not have the second dose. I have RA and it is feared that another dose could cause the RA to return permanently. Seven months after my vaccine, my husband and I got Covid and recovered in about 10 days. Why is this not considered “immunity”?

    4. Hi Rob L.

In considering governmental decisions we should remind ourselves:

“It is the theory which decides what can be observed”
      ― Albert Einstein

      and

“When the facts do not fit the theory, dispose of the facts”

  2. I read this and tried to understand it.

But I must confess I had to go back and take a second look at the title because as I read it I thought perhaps I had mistakenly opened up my copy of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. These Hawaiian rules appear about as clear as those.

This disorienting mess of requirements has Hawaii appearing less a State and more akin medieval Europe – a collection of fiefdoms each with their own Canon regarding visitation.

    What’s next for us? Drawbridges?

      1. Hi Rachel.

My admiration. You are certainly better at this than I.

I got lost in the Tuesday Dining Access (Noon) calculations right after trying to determine the third integral of the second derivative of the root mean square of the number of diners in the restaurant we were trying to get seated in.

Hyperbole aside, I just don’t grasp why Hawaii makes things complex when simplicity is a much better solution. It would be easier on everyone involved.

  3. Aloha and Mahalo for your prompt and accurate reporting. It’s important.

The reason why we haven’t implemented this on Kaua’i is because there is too much push back on mandates due to their illegal nature. A lot of business’ will go down and they know it.

Things are about to get a lot more interesting!

  4. Governor Ige of the “January 2019, Waikiki Nuclear Attack Warning”, seems to be trying to out-do himself, sounds like rest, not trvel is what he needs, by-passing his Lt. Governor, extremely bad form! So American Citizens originating from the Mainland, now, no longer need the ’72-Hour Lab Test,’ but can now get a ’24 Hour Quick-Test’, or so it sounds. That’s the way this sounds, of course, it’s probably only operative for this week!

  5. I’d like to see the mandatory post travel requirement canceled for Oahu City workers. Currently, after a vacation/personal mainland trip, City workers must self-quarantine an additional 4-days before taking a COVID test, even those that are vaccinated. This causes the employee to utilize an additional 4+ days of vac or CT while waiting to get approved from City doctor to take the COVID test at the designated City location (airport). Only City doctor can issue a return to work release after test

  6. Proclamation that is supposed to be used for emergencies. We have no emergencies, never did. This is abusive power to coerce business and people. How long are we going to take it? Baffle us with bull stuff so we don’t know what’s really going on. Disgraceful, criminal and absolutely destructive. Shame on this man in a leadership role to abuse it at the mercy of so many livelihoods and psychological well-beings.

  7. Could they make this any more confusing? We’ll be on the BI for Thanksgiving, and made the decision long ago to do most of our own cooking in our condo. I’m glad we did that, as it appears restaurants will still be operating at 50% when we are there. We were able to get several reservations, but the 50% requirement makes it difficult.

Thank you BOH for keeping us up to date.

    1. Hi Lee.

Thanks. We’ll see – our guess is that it won’t be at 50% by then, one way or the other.

      Aloha.

  8. I don’t see what is so “confusing” about this. If your county implemented vax card, establishments can go to full capacity. If not, they cannot. Tourists need to check the island before going. Why complain about this? Isn’t this the positive move so many have been crying for? (Not me, I don’t think we are ready for 100% yet, but not my call.)
