  1. If your vaccinations are outside the 90 day window, does that mean you can’t travel, or you can travel with a negative test? DOn’t think the CDC will have firm evidence on vaccinations for a while, but I’ve never heard of a vaccination that only lasts 3 months.

Mahalo for keeping us up to date.

    1. Hi Lee.

No word on that, but guidance will probably have to come from the CDC. Thanks for your many comments.

      Aloha.

  2. Aloha, I am not sure why the governor is cautious about the Covid vaccination 3 month restriction. WHen you get a flu shot you are not a carrier. I have not heard any news about vaccinated people giving Covid to anyone. I hope to vacation in Kauai in a few months.
    Mahalo

    1. Hi Marilyn.

Good to hear from you. We too hope you can return to Kauai soon. Let us know your plans.

      Aloha.

  3. This is complete insanity!!! Here is the best course of action just Boycott Hawaii until they bend to the travelers will. Viva Mexico!!!

  4. I made a comment on this subject a couple of days ago and am getting hundreds of replies. If I had known I would be getting this number of replies, I wouldn’t have checked the box. Would you please make sure I no longer get replies on this subject!

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Will.

That’s done. For next time, there is a link in each email to manage those subscriptions. It’s super easy.

      Aloha.

  5. Green saying he wants one thing, the other current Clown, Ige, saying he isn’t making any decisions until the science says so, and therefore, because of governments like these, the drama fest of “30 days to slow the spread” will be 365 days, come March 16th.

Hawaii and their inept Government has been in a time warp for 11 months, while more and more people go from middle class to poor, and/or die from other circumstances related to Covid, yet they still don’t have a solid plan for fixing the devastated travel and hospitality industry, when the economy depends on it.

Are they even looking into alternative sources of industry to ensure this doesn’t happen again? How can they plan for the future, when they can’t even manage the Now? Why does it appear the State is just sitting on their hands? If they aren’t willing to commit to the here and now, to regulate the current situation, why can’t they be looking forward to help create alternate industrial sources to enhance and subsidize the economy. This seriously can’t be allowed to happen again.

It’s pathetically sad how bad this government really is. Thanks for the update, Guys! Hope you are doing well?

    1. This horrible situation in Hawaii got me thinking. A decent amount of the suffering, not only for my bothers and sisters residing in the Islands, but the many people who have plans to visit the Islands, is a direct result of the government’s leadership (or lack of). Well, I look this us, unfortunately, Ige is in office until Dec 2022. … oh well, I was ‘wishing’ for a change of leadership sooner than later .

  6. Thank you for the update. Vaccination travel that requires someone to travel inside a 10 week window of their completed vaccination (2 weeks following the second dose thru 3 months) is pretty much useless. First, you don’t get to choose your vaccination date, so planning a vacation would be out and you’d have to be ready to travel on a whim. Second, your travel companion(s) would rarely be vaccinated in that same window. I guess it might help singles travel, but there’s no way a family would meet those requirements. If vaccinations aren’t good for at least a year in the plan, they can quit wasting their time on it.

    1. Jeff S…

As many of us have, you pointed out the futility of this plan!!! How come we’re all smarter than the Hawaii State Government?

      1. I’m not sure Barbara. Seems to be a lack of awareness of reality. Most people have to plan very far in advance to have a nice trip to Hawaii. In our case, we have a vacation for 9 that was paid for in September of 2019 for a June 2020 trip. Of course, airlines / hotels gave vouchers if we rebooked for 2021. So now June 2021 is coming quickly and some of us were vaccinated in December 2020 and January 2021. The others are hoping to be able to get theirs prior to May. There isn’t any way to fit us in the window they have described and we’re simply not going to travel across the state and pay for tests two or three days before travel. We’re at the point of thinking that if there isn’t a clear decision on this soon that we’ll seek a legal way to go pretty much anywhere else.

        1. Jeff S… I feel your pain – although just for 2 not 9! And we as well have a logistical nightmare trying to get tested in a timely manner – depending on what day of the week we travel, up to 4 extra days in our departure city.

  7. I had my second vaccine yesterday, and I’m excited about leaving for Maui (my first trip to Hawaii!) on March 6. Will I still need to order a COVID-19 test within 72 hours of my departure?
(I will be leaving from Bozeman, Montana.) Please reply soon, so I’ll be able to order the COVID-19 test quickly (hopefully by tomorrow) if I need to have one!

    Thank you so much!

    1. Hi Gloria.

At this point yes you need to comply with testing. There has been nothing announced yet for vaccination-based travel requirements.

      Aloha.
