  1. It is a fact that this vaccine (which is legally not a vaccine at all – it is an experimental gene therapy) – is NOT shown to stop you from getting covid – or ‘spreadin’ covid….

These are not my opinions. do your own research.

also as an FYI – another fact – more people have already died of the covid injection in the last three months (almost two thousand now) than the entire last decade…..

    I wish you all well.

    1. WPC – I have constantly been “doing my own research” and fact checking. Here is March 29, 2021 news from the Director of CDC: businessinsider.com/cdc-director-data-vaccinated-people-do-not-carry-covid-19-2021-3.

If these tested vaccinated people do not carry the virus, how exactly, in your learned scientific opinion, can they transmit a virus they are not carrying?

    2. You said: “It is a fact that this vaccine (which is legally not a vaccine at all – it is an experimental gene therapy) – is NOT shown to stop you from getting covid – or ‘spreadin’ covid….”

You could have stopped at “It is a fact”. The mRNA vaccine (Pfizer/Bion/Moderna) is NOT a gene therapy. It has nothing to do with DNA. The M(messenger)RNA is a chemical that, in this case, detects the spike protein on the virus and alerts our natural antibodies of the invader so that said antibodies can be dispatched and targeted to the spike protein. mRNA technology has been around for at least three decades and applied to rabies, influenza, cytomegalovirus, and Zika

Also, the jury is still out on whether the vaccine prevents infections, though a study of ~4,000 medical professionals vaccinated did discover that the prevention rate was effective for 80% after the first jab, rising to 90% after the second. The CDC study comes weeks after real-world data from Israel suggested that the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine was 94% effective in preventing asymptomatic infections.

Not sure what you meant about “more people died…than the entire last decade”, but here’s the data from the CDC:

You may have been relying on a report from The Epoch Times or Newsweek, but it is false to say that COVID vaccines have caused 966 deaths, because the VAERS database is not designed to give this information. For example, in the dataset published by The Epoch Times, one of the people who died after getting a vaccine had also been injured in a car crash between getting the jab and the date of their death, but the case was still included in the dataset.

Note that even your numbers (“almost 2,000) are off by half, even if you believe the 966 number. That, by the way, is .001% of the 90 million doses administered. 965 estimated deaths compared with ~550,000 confirmed deaths? Hmmm.

    3. I have done extensive research on this and I would love to see your sources for the supposed 2000 that have died from the injection. I will wait. anxiously because well its simply not true.

  2. Thank you, we booked out flight for May 16-26. Hoping that Hawaii will let us in with our fully vaccinated card not going through pre-test requirements.

    1. Dear Thelma, I’m planning my life long dream vacation trip to Oahu next year & I’m getting very excited!! I can’t wait ♡♡ I’m also waiting on the vaccine passport. I’m a teacher & I’m fully vaccinated now.

  3. I have a lot of time for the Lt Governor. As a medical man he makes a lot more sense than the professional politicians. My concern is that all discussions so far focus solely on US residents. There is no mention of how Foreign nationals will be accommodated if at all. The current Testing requirement is onerous as it often requires a break of journey for 2-3 days if one’s airline does not have a rapid test provision at the airport of connection. Given that Hawaii is a very expensive choice from Europe and indeed Asia and thus attracts visitors who spend appreciably more in hospitality, shopping and ancillary tourist businesses, it might make sense for the State to a) pick a testing partner or so in the UK and Europe as has been done in Japan and perhaps accommodate the vaccine procedures too. The yellow fever booklets which record all travel mandated vaccinations are being used for this purpose, the UK issues a vaccination card which is primarily a reminder but lists vaccine type, manufacturer, batch, date of inoculation and by whom almost identical to the CDC one. Additionally for travel one can obtain a letter from the primary care physician giving the vaccination details. It would be a mistake to look for a US only system or indeed one that only key states like California adopt based on %age of visitors.

    1. There is uncertainty about the level of protection and when it starts to decline. Several countries have chosen 3 months as a first guess. I am in the UK at present, Here they started vaccinations early in 2021 and the most vulnerable are being lined up for boosters in October. What is unclear at present is whether this is primarily to renew protection or whether it is to include protection from the plethora of new strains that are being discovered in the UK, Brazil, South Africa, California etc etc. The major issue here is that the experts are in new territory and using mRNA technology is not something with years of track record. If you received your second shot in February as a first responder or vulnerable person, you might want to talk to your primary care physician about boosters and what the plans are for the vaccine that you received.

  4. We are with you Sean. Heading to Key West for 2 weeks! We went to Maui for 22 years straight. Not going to deal with all the BS with trying to get to Maui this year. To be honest I don’t think the Hawaiians want the tourists back. We have so many beautiful beaches on the East coast and gulf coasts to visit. We can Get on a plane and not worry about any COVID tests being back in time before traveling.

    1. What few out West know is Florida’s beaches, especially the Gulf Coast, are absolutely amazing. Pristine beaches, clear blue water, marine life, as well as a ton of tropical birds.

No tourist price gouging, and no fake smiles pretending to be ” Aloha”. Also, in today’s world, nobody yelling at you for standing up with a beer in your hand vs. sitting down 6″ lower on a stool.

West coasters and out here have lost their minds with the masks. They work marginally well, but they’re not stopping anything 100%. If they did, our 95% mask rate would have had our cases at zero long ago.

    2. With all due respect. Have fun in covid filled mask free environment of Florida and STOP commenting on a Hawaii site, where most of us are willing to do what we need to do to respect not only the Hawaiian islands but the people! Don’t ever come back! Those of us who are willing to make a tiny sacrifice to visit Hawaii thank you for staying away and allowing some of us who don’t see the Hawaiians as our slaves to do our bidding. I am so sick and tired of you naysayers spreading your BS all over this forum.
Don’t like the rules stay away but stop bitching about it here!
We are going in June, just confirmed flights etc and we are MORE than willing to do what ever it takes to be there.
I never understand why you all are here anyway.

      1. In true fashion, why don’t you write a strongly worded email to the BeatofHawaii people and attempt to cancel me… After all, different opinions are no longer welcome. And since I live in Hawaii, and have for a long time, commenting on a Hawaii site seems kind of appropriate.

        1. its not that opinions are not welcome nor valid here. You seem to be a troll that as of yet I have to see one comment than you might be planning a trip to Hawaii so why exactly are you here besides to troll people? Nah BOH does a great job and its up to them to decide who should and should not post. You seem to think you can post any BS you want and that no one should even try to challenge your right wing talking points. Sorry aint happening.
PS its you not anyone else getting personal

        2. Great, Sean. YOu live in HI? So you plan to enter the wild west of FL where anti-mask and anti-vaccine government runs wild and then return HERE to our HI home. Maybe take a staycation on your own island here instead, and do more to protect all residents that way.

  5. enjoy showing your proof of vaccination everywhere you go out here and on the West Coast.

Follow Cuomo’s lead. That sounds like a great idea, he is doing so well these days.

I’ll be sipping drinks on the beach in Florida, maskless. Free to do as I please like we should be.

Maui- 13% unemployment. I’m gonna have a good laugh at the impending economic doom coming for the people out here, and those that support this crap.

    1. Aloha Sean. To be consistent, wouldn’t it be logical to withhold expensive treatment for those who believe that the pandemic is a “bunch of crap”?

      1. Not saying the virus is fake etc.. But the overreach is ridiculous.

Take for example the groups of people who are most susceptible to Covid.. The elderly, or older aged with comorbidities… Most, and soon all will have the vaccine available to them soon. They are theoretically “protected” from getting seriously ill. Great.

Kids and younger, healthy adults have very slight repercussions from Covid. Most hardly know they have it. And in the case of kids, the flu is more deadly.. (or if y’all remember H1N1 back in 2009, that virus attacked primarily kids and teenagers, yet no gov’t overreach or vaccines for kids)

Preliminary studies suggest that it is entirely possible to still catch “the Vid” even with the vaccine. Just won’t have serious consequences.

Here is the point of my book here:

If the older aged group is protected from DEATH, younger healthy group is 99.9997% unlikely to incur DEATH, and the vaccine doesn’t prevent spread like we think, what does a passport do for us? All age groups are basically protected from DEATH through either vaccines, or age and health.

        1. And before the usual crowd attacks the “flu” comment…. it is a statistical fact the flu kills more kids than Covid. And it is also a statistical fact that H1N1 killed more kids and teens than Covid.

        2. @sean,

See, this is the reason that “I did my own research” just doens’t work. I leave it up to people with letters like MD, MPH, and the like, after their name to process all the infomration, and make public health recommendations. One good place for that to be communicated to us is the websites from places like, Johns Hopkins, and our local public heath department, etc. So, if you look at those sources for understanding, you’ll see things like hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/coronavirus/coronavirus-and-covid-19-younger-adults-are-at-risk-too That explains why the fact that just because youg people don’t get AS sick doesn’t mean that they can’t be, and actually ARE, vectors for the spread of a highly contagious virus. But setting all that aside, the public health experts and the goverment of the state of Hawaii has decided on certain measure to try and protect it’s residents from illness and death. You are free to agree or disagree, and you are certainly free to take your vacation dollars elsewhere. However, I think that trying to convince other people that the measures that the state of Hawai have put into place are “wrong”, well, until you have MD, MPH after your name, I’m sorry, but I’m just not interested in your opinions, and I think that you do a diservice to the people of Hawaii by making your “opinions” known.

          1. In that case, the CDC says travel should be avoided, so does that make all the vacationers who are happy about the passport and adhere to CDC guidelines, hypocrites?

Paul C. wants to come here in June, maybe in June the CDC will still ask people to avoid travel? Should he cancel?

Also, for every pound a passenger weighs, that is that much more fuel a airplane burns per minute. That much more CO2 released into the air. For all the Global Warming West Coasters who want everything Green, maybe they shouldn’t travel seeing how they are increasing carbon emissions.

          2. This is for Hawaii and its pretty obvious your just here as a troll. I am coming regardless so suck it up butter cup.

        3. So, that means if you contract Covid and need treatment, to be consistent with your philosophy, you will pay for your own treatment?

        4. You said: Kids and younger, healthy adults have very slight repercussions from Covid. Most hardly know they have it. And in the case of kids, the flu is more deadly.

From WebMd: “The good news is that the rates of hospitalization, ICU admission and need for mechanical ventilation were not statistically worse than for young people with the flu,” said Grosso, who directs pediatrics at Huntington Hospital in Huntington, N.Y.” So, you are correct that CV-19 and the common flu are equal in effects on children, but flu is more deadly? Hmm.

Your post seems to overlook more than 500,000 U.S. deaths (most likely and under count). It seems to overlook the fact that the U.S. leads the world in infections, deaths, and hospitalizations. It doesn’t mention that CV-19 is now the third leading cause of death behind heart disease and cancer. You seem to also miss the unknowns of long-term health effects from the previously infected.

Your “move on” tone belies the fact that we are now in the midst of a new surge in at least 27 states.

I hate to clog this site with off-topic comments, but hubris needs a check.

        5. overreach. Ok really? Its well within the purview of not only the states but the nation to look out for and protect its citizens. In fact one could argue this is one of the few things that is Precisely why we have government. I know you think that we should just fling all the doors wide open so you can exercise your privilege. Good look in Florida. The place is blowing up with new covid cases I sincerely hope you are not one of them. That being said Enjoy Covid filled Florida wo your mask and with all due respect choose a different forum to complain in. Those of us here are actually interested in news from Hawaii and what we need to do to be able to go visit and enjoy the atmosphere.

          1. NY, NJ, MI.. They are blowing up with Covid…

TX and FL are either remaining level, or in TX’s case have reduced greatly over the last 3 weeks. Same with MS.

          2. Let’s look at yesterday’s numbers. In terms of total new cases yesterday, New York, indeed, leads the list. Followed by Michigan, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and TEXAS at #6. My guess is that based on what we have seen in Floria with spring break, their numbers are about to go WAY up. Bottom line is that if you listen to the experts and follow the science, that “opening up” too quickly (like Texas, Florida,, and other red states) isn’t a good idea. That DOESN’T mean keeping everything completely locked down is a good idea either. But the most important thing is that we continue to wear our masks, social distance, and wash our hands. So, those states dropping their mask mandates are flying against the science, and, I suspect, will pay a price.

          3. We are doing great in most of Texas. We live in a rural area and haven’t worn masks in months. The larger cities may still require masks in some cases but if you’ve ever been to Texas, you would know that it is very large and most of the land mass is rural and having no issues with COVID. I have also visited Hawaii and will be going again in a few weeks. I have every intention of following the guidelines that are set. It is important to remember that a state as large as Texas can not be compared to the Islands of Hawaii.

      2. Not sure about expensive medical treatment?

Should we withhold expensive treatment for smokers, people that live off of fast food? How about drug addicts who OD on Fentynal?

We could play that game all day. That is how silly your comment reduces the conversation to.

        1. your comment is the silly comment of the day IMHO. Smokers DO pay more as do the morbidly obese so considering this is a something that is preventable and your choosing NOT to follow the science and be vaccinated you should give up all rights to have your healthcare costs covered if you refuse the vaccine.

    2. I thought you live on Maui! Sure sounds like you live in Florida, or why would you be rooting for residents of the island where you live to lose their jobs?

  6. If the CDC states that vaccinated prior can still contract and spread the virus then isn’t this just special treatment for people who obey?

    1. lmao special treatment. NO its not giving special treatment to those who refuse to believe science and choose to protect not only themselves but those around them.

  7. Hi,

I will be fully vaccinated in April and have a trip coming in June. Will be need to quarantine upon arrival or test before traveling into Oahu?

    Thank you!

    1. currently you still have to provide a negative covid test and as I understand it at least currently as long as you provide a negative test result you will not have to quarantine
