  1. Do you think this is really going to happen? If it does happen, and there is a spike in cases, will Governor Ige close up again? It seems like his policies change by the day. How can businesses really trust what he says? I’m thankful that our plans to visit our kids will not happen until next March. Hopefully the kinks in this process will be worked out by then— but I’m doubtful.

Thank you for keeping us up to date. I look forward to seeing what happens next.

    1. Hi Lee.

We are cautiously optimistic that reopening will now happen on 10/15 and that Hawaii will not shut down again. Your concerns make good sense, however, given what has happened to date. Thanks for your more than 30 comments!

      Aloha.

  2. Just logged into CVS website to see about getting a Covid NAAT test as required for upcoming Hawaii visit. They have a checklist to fill out (do you have symptoms, are you compromised, etc) once filled out, it came back and said I am not eligible to get tested. Unfortunately, I think we still have issues with not enough testing capability for frivolous things like travel

    1. Susan, it was just announced yesterday so I am giving CVS a little more time to ramp this up and formally announce the partnership. Kaiser already shows they test for travel related reasons and CVS just announced today that they are doubling their testing sites by mid-October. Maybe it’s all part of the master plan? I am also hoping for future partnerships to surface in the coming week or so.

  3. Hi there!
Hawaiian airlines and our timeshare has been amazing and flexible with us rescheduling our trip twice now. I even called Kaiser (I’m in California) and they totally knew what’s up even though their website wasn’t updated yet. I’ve got my appointment set up for my Covid test 72 hours before we fly out later in October! I’m a little nervous on how we’ll be received. We’ve been following all the rules her in Cali and just want a break from all the smoke and 2020 mess. We haven’t even done outside dining in Cali. Hoping to burn some cash on lots of Maui Brewing beers, ahi takeout and swim at your beautiful beaches!

    1. I’ve had a good experience with Hawaiian Airlines too. Personally I plan on using them whenever possible.
Obviously their service is much more “Hawaiian” then the mainland carriers, but in these times I would rather
spend my money knowing it’s helping support Hawaii by keeping more of their their employees off unemployment
and contributing towards the place we all love and want to see recover.
      Aloha to all

      1. Hi John.

Thanks for that and your well over 100 other comments! True that most of their employees are Hawaii residents.

        Aloha.

  4. How about, If nothing else lighten up quarantine for returning residents with negative covid tests… it’s been a nightmare getting family back together

  5. WOW, we are thrilled to read the news. Thank You for the information and wait with guarded anticipation for additional details.
I would love to offer lunch or dinner to compliment the drink at Bobby V’s in Kapaa in the hopes I get to meet the incredible people with the patience of a Saint that keep my beloved BoH broadcasting.

    1. Now we are getting in the right mood:) If this catches on, maybe we should make a reservation so we don’t overwhelm Bobby V’s:)

If it comes to be,we will probably travel in late Feb 2021, for we love Kauai and then we go to Maui for our beloved whales.
Mahalo for all you do BOH.
      Bill

  6. Wow, you predicted that. I read the article in the Honolulu paper. Looks to me as if the state of Hawaii had to take a good deal of time to get all the pieces of this complicated travel plan together. It does look promising. My only worry is that some unforeseen problem doesn’t put a kibosh in the works, given the way 2020 has gone thus far it wouldn’t surprise me. However, we are hopeful and plan to makes some plans soon.
    Mahalo Guys

    1. Hi Roy.

Yes, we’d like to think surprises are behind us. But as you said, with the way that 2020 has gone, who knows.

      Aloha.
