  1. At HHV on Oahu, packed! Awesome time like always . Plan ahead Pearl Harbor hard to get. My observation regarding masks- only people with not on are people walking by themselves, with it in their hand. The swap meet today was hopping big time!

    1. We always do PH, the next day after our arrival. 5 hour time difference, so we’re up early. PH opens @ 0700. We time our arrival to coincide with their opening, plenty of parking, we usually are on the 1st boat, out to the memorial.

  2. I just returned from Oahu one week ago. We spent 10 days on the North Shore taking 9 people, including 5 children. Air fare was $198 RT on AA nonstop from DFW. Rental car for 10 days was $515. It was a minivan. Great affordable trip. Was advised by Beat of Hawaii of fare sale. Booked 3 months out. Only downside was the severe Flash Flooding. Lots of things were cancelled and roads impassable. Haleiwa was evacuated! We had a wonderful time despite the weather.
But the day we left EVERYTHING was picking up and really crowded. I wanted to eat at Dukes but the wait was 3 hours!
Very few places take reservations yet. So glad we listened to you and went when we did! Also no in restaurant seating at places like Zippys. Ate plate lunches in a minivan.
I will say I felt welcomed. The local people have suffered more than any other state. Hawaii will always be my favorite destination but understand the changes and please wear your mask.

    1. Hi Karen.

Thanks much for the feedback on your trip to Oahu. We’re glad you had a great time in spite of the weather.

      Aloha.

  3. I’m wondering how The locals will respond to a big rush of visitors. Aloha spirit seemed pretty low for a while.

  4. I tried to book any time 4/5-4/14 at Mamma’s and they are booked through early May. Soooo disappointed. I was lived at Maui 35 years ago and am bringing my daughter to see where she was born. Sounds like it will be totally different from what I was able to enjoy

    1. Shouldn’t be as big a problem since mainly just smarter people visit the big island and there aren’t as many of those out there… so big island is rarely crowded.

    2. I work in a resort area in Wisconsin Dell. This week is spring break!! People are crazy for vacations! Had to call capacity because too many people in the store. I see that Hawaii will be full to over flowing. To the wonderful people of Hawaii take a deep breath and enjoy the ride. Aloha!

  5. We are looking to visit Kauai in April of ’23 for a month. We have a place picked out. When should we make that reservation?

    Thank you!

    1. Hi John.

That is two years away. We have no idea. Typically if you’re coming during spring break time, you should book many months in advance and if not, then it can be done a month or two in advance.

      Aloha.

  6. Thanks for all your info. We’re going back to Maui for our fifth time in November 2021. Hopefully it will not be as crazy as it is now. I will plan on making reservations 3 months out. Especially for luau and brewery tour.

  7. Since the “Spirit of Aloha” didn’t exactly exist over the last year this sounds like Hawaii’s new marketing ploy … “Book quickly before all the availability gets taken!” Ahhh the power of persuasion! 🤣

    1. This last week was my 5th trip to Hawaii in the past 12 months and I honestly have experienced the Spirit of Aloha every sing trip. Hawaii is just different due to the Covid restrictions. But still totally worth it!

    2. Here on the big island visitors can’t find Renata cars because of the demand, and resort prices are double what they were a couple months ago. Not a marketing ploy, lots of people escaping mainland craziness to enjoy the islands right now.

  8. I booked a Jeep 2 months ago for 15 days. $950 which I thought was expensive. Just checked again this weekend-$2,400! Wow!
