  1. In some states, Vault Health will not test if you are covered by Medicare/Medicaid. (We thought they didn’t test in NM at all but it is only if you are covered by Medicare or Medicaid that they won’t test!)

CVS is now posting a disclaimer that they cannot guarantee meeting travel related time frames.

Quest Diagnostics is no longer a Trusted Partner.

In many states, Walgreens does not offer Rapid Results Testing at all.

Costco/Azova is getting a very bad rap for not getting tests to a patient on time, etc. AND they do not offer the required Zoom call on Saturdays or Sundays! (Great choice of vendors, Costco and State of Hawaii!)

And so it goes… Check the DETAILS before you decide to utilize a particular vendor!

And BOH, I agree… if worst came to worst, I’d be OK with having to quarantine for a day or even two until my negative test results came in but to punish me for a week……NO

      1. I’m beginning to feel like the stepchild Hawaii doesn’t want! I’ve actually got a call into Vault to get more info on the exception. If I ever hear back, I’ll definitely post.

    1. Barbara, my husband is on Medicare and you can test via Vault but, you will have to pay for testing out of pocket. I ordered 2 tests and have them both for our testing soon. Not sure this will help or not.

  2. My suggestion is do not put more than one test in your Vault return envelope. I am hearing cases of lost tests and invalid tests (personal experience). Order Vault over a week ahead of time. Thank you BOH

    1. Thank you for your information. I was thinking and looking at the business days before my flight on December 3rd and ordered my Vault test on Friday. They shipped today (November 23rd) and I should have it in time for my Monday… test to send back. Going to double down and still try for the CVS test but getting the reservation is beyond difficult…I have to log in at 12:01am this Saturday to get an appointment for Monday the 30th!

  3. We are scheduled to arrive on November 30 on American Airlines using their “Let’s Get Checked “ partner. Praying results come in time for arrival.
How well has this company been in delivering results on time?
Can we just stay inside the airport when we arrive and not go to baggage claim until we get our results and upload the results to the state website?
    Thanks

    1. Hi Ron.

Two good questions. Let’s see if others can help as we don’t have the answers. Other commentators have reported waiting at the airport.

      Aloha.

    2. My cousin did that test on Wednesday evening for a Saturday morning flight. He got the results after he had boarded his connecting flight to DFW. He was getting nervous, to say the least! Mahalo!

    3. Hi Ron,

Under the original safe travels program that might have been on option for your family but per Hawaii’s safe travels program “ Starting on 11/24/20, travelers who have not yet received their test results prior to departure for Hawaii, will go into quarantine with no ability to come out of quarantine. Post-Arrival uploads of test results will Not be allowed”

If you are concerned about not getting the results prior results to your outbound flight, I’d encourage you to take advantage of the flexible change and cancelation policies that airlines have now and move your travels to a time where travel is easier again whether that be during the pandemic or not!

Best of luck to you and your family! And if you do come be sure to wear your mask and please consider participating in the post travel testing program!

  4. WOW!!

Mahalo guys for breaking the news so quickly! You just answered prayers for so many people.

Things amidst COVID-19 are horrible everywhere and this concession by Hawaiian airlines is a light in the darkness.

We’re all in this together. As humans trying to get by in a pandemic, life’s hard enough.
We need more caring, loving, kindness in our world.

    Blessings and Aloha to all.

    1. Hi Pam.

Thanks. Guaranteed timely results is a great solution to this new rule change that starts tomorrow.

      Aloha.

  5. This seems like good news, but I am still a bit confused – Worksite Labs and US BioTek are not on the hawaii covid 19 website as approved partners. Does this mean if your airline sends you to a lab they have partnered with, it is an acceptable test? I have read on the hawaiicovid website they will only accept tests from their partners.

    1. Hi Pam.

Concur it is confusing. But the airlines themselves are listed as partners for providing the tests. If in doubt please call the state’s helpline at 1-855-599-0888.

      Aloha.

      1. I had the same Concern but a chat with the official Hawaii travel program told me that the airlines are partnered with Hawaii so anything they list on their sites, like US Biotek and Worksite WILL be recognized by the state.

  6. Aloha!
Big thanks to Hawaiian Air for articulating and responding to this new change. Please note Alaska air is offering Carbon tests with a same day or next day guaranteed turnaround as well. Info can be found on their webpage under covid info. As always big Mahalo to boh🌺

  7. This is all good news with the exception of we were scheduled to leave out of Sacramento international airport. We took our test this morning at our Kaiser location and were told it would take 3 to 4 days to get the results back. The four days is outside of our 72 hours. We will have to cancel our trip now. Not only losing our much anticipated and needed getaway but a financial hit as well.

    1. I am in Sacramento as well and took at Kaiser Roseville this morning. Partners should be able to guarantee results. Super frustrating!

  8. Aloha BOH

Have you seen this Declaration just posted on another travel site. Is it a bunch of hot air or is there a real chance that it could lead to violence against tourist?

I also understand that these same people are going to bring their grievances to this Wednesday’s Kauai council meeting.

    1. “I also understand that these same people are going to bring their grievances to this Wednesday’s Kauai council meeting.”

In other words, just another run-of-the-mill county council meeting …

  9. Is it okay to bring your chest results to the airport because we’re flying out of San Diego to Hawaii can we show Hawaiian airlines that we did get tested and we did get negative results

    1. Hi Donna.

You need to follow the procedures for the State of Hawaii. This has nothing to do with Hawaiian Airlines. Test with 72 hours of departure. Upload results to the SafeTravels website, and also have results available on your phone or printed.

      Aloha.

  10. You can still depart to Hawaii without negative test in hand but will be subjected to a 14-day quarantine.

Two trips to an airport to have guaranteed results within 36 is a small price to pay to travel during a pandemic.
