  1. I was able to get a refund for 1 of our 3 flights today, but only because they had changed the schedule slightly. The US DOT rules state they need to refund if you don’t accept the change. Too early to be able to do anything else for May, even though the messaging is that flights are cancelled through 5/20. Apparently mine are still showing as running despite the messaging.

  2. Dealing with Hawaiian Airlines to cancel requires patience. Their original instructions advised sending an email and they would acknowledge the request by email. I did so but received no email back for days. So I checked my res (still active) and saw an option to cancel without rebooking. At the time I found it, HA had not made an announcement of that feature. So I cancelled from within my res and immediately received a response saying my res was cancelled. Same terms as their original announcement, blah blah blah. HA not great with communications. Definitely gives me pause about them as a company.

  3. I was scheduled to fly to Honolulu 3/26, I went on line to change for a later date flight, it kept telling me a $ 30.00 fee will be charged, my friend also went on line for me, it also said a $ 30.00 fee will be charged, I drove from my residence in Volcano to Hilo Airport and talk to a ticket agent to change my flight date, I told the agent we were told a $ 30.00 fee will be charge, he shook his head, and changed my flight date, without charging me, Hawaiian Airline, Please have your team up dated, It cost me almost $ 30.00, gas, wear tear on my auto, parking fee at the Airport, and my time lost. when thinking about it, I might be ahead paying that $ 30.00 that your company want to charge me. VERY SAD Hawaiian Airline please wake up. Earl

  4. does the 14 day quar antine apply to passengers that are just flying thru Hawaii to their final destination? I am flying from Oakland on 4/6/20 to Pago Pago, American Samoa and returning flight back to Oakland on 04/20/20.

  5. I can tell you that if Hawaiian air does not offer a FULL refund for our trip that was scheduled May 1st thru the 11th I will NEVER even if I have to pay alot more fly on Hawaiian. This whole thing is ridiculous. They need to fully refund anyone who had a flight and has been cancelled.

    1. Hi Paul.

We have posted the link to the DOT, and that includes a consumer complaint link. Hopefully that will not be necessary. Not sure about contacting your credit card company as another option, but they too will be hard to reach right now.

      Aloha.

      1. Hello
Love this website. Glad I found you
        When you.
        Question please.
When you indicate the list the flights and prices “effective May 21st”, does that mean we buy on may 21st or after or can we buy now for a departure date after may 21st?
        Thank you,
        Laura

  6. Good morning. I’m actually glad to hear that Hawaii is isolating itself as much as possible. This has to be a big relief to her people.

I just checked the Hawaiian Air website (6:15 am PDT) and there is a button that says “Cancel Reservation Now and Rebook Later”. And a disclaimer that says “Guests who would like to cancel their tickets now and rebook with a travel waiver at a later time can do so through My Trips. …the unused value of the ticket may be applied…up to one year from the original purchase date.” Trouble is, we bought our tickets back in November. We can’t go this coming November, so gonna wait a week before contacting them to request either a refund or an extension of the waiver through June 2021.

I’m not one bit surprised that they cancelled thru May 20. Our flight to Maui was scheduled for the 19th (have to laugh, right?) We’d love to go on the 21st, but since we booked our hotel over a year ago (timeshare), that reservation can’t be changed. Ah well, so much for well-laid plans, right? I’m hoping that both Hawaiian Air and the hotel will do the right thing and refund our money or allow us to rebook for next year.

Can’t say enough how much I appreciate you guys for keeping us all informed. Mahalo!

    1. Hi Debi.

Thank you! Yes, the airlines obviously do not want to give money back. And yet the DOT requires that they do. We would hope all airlines add the cancel and obtain refund to original payment method to their websites. Not sure about that. Watch for a post we’re just completing with more information about cancelling. It may or may not help in your situation.

      Aloha.

  7. Hawaiian airlines
    March 27th, Friday
    Flight HA6 HNL Depart 8:05am
    to LAS Arrive 4:40pm

    Still on schedule?
    No suspensions or cancellations?

  8. Aloha, we have tickets on HA as follows:

    SFO to OGG on 4/7
    OGG to ITO on 4/12
ITO to HNL to SFO on 4/28

Would you please let me know if HA will contact us
if and when our flights are canceled?
It has been impossible to reach
HA Custome Service and their website says to not call
unless our flights are within 72 hours. Thank you
so much in advance for any information/assistance you are
    able to provide.

    Aloha,
    Weien

    1. Hi Weien.

We can’t speak for the airlines. Have you gone online to try to cancel? That might be the best place to start given how hard it is to reach airlines right now.

      Aloha.

  9. We have tickets to HNL from ITO for 4/19/20 to 4/22/20. Really not an issue if we can just rebook at a later date or get a refund. At this time trying to reach HA is near impossible and not knowing when we would rebook is a question. Should we just wait until things quiet down or would doing that cause us to loose our tickets? How should we proceed?

    1. I changed my tickets today. The wait on phone was 3 hrs 20 min. I just watched tv and chilled. When the lady finally came on line I about fell out of the chair. She was so very nice and accommodating. Glad I got it done tho!

  10. I have a round trip ticket from Lihue, Hawaii to Boston, leaving May 14, 2020 and returning June 7, 2020. Will this be cancelled? Thank you for all the information you provide to your readers, it is appreciated.

    1. Hi Clarita.

Thank you. Yes the May 14 flight is no longer showing on the HA schedule. June 7 is still shown as available.

      Aloha.

    2. Aloha Clarita,

My wife has a ticket booked for May 11th, to meet me in Maui. I was leaving in April to do some work on our property on another island and we were meeting in Maui in May for an actual “vacation” in our Condo. Hawaiian already cancelled my flight and removed my booking for my Round Trip April-May flight, but her booking is still showing and has not been cancelled yet. You may want to check the website to see if your flight booking is still scheduled. Even though the flight isn’t showing on their schedule, or can’t be currently booked, they could still have your booking active, just incase restrictions are lifted by then, and they can start flying. You should wait until the flight booking is cancelled and you will get an email from them. My wife has not received an email even though I have. Waiting for the email and your actual booking cancellation from Hawaiian, can give you more options to decide what you want to do rather than cancelling too early.

Hope this helps in inderstanding that although the flight is no longer able to be booked, it may still be possible should this crisis make a drastic change for the better, that you may still fly. We aren’t holding our breath though…

      Take care!
