  1. Have you heard anything about when Hawaii will allow cruise ships to dock and allow passengers to visit? Also, do you see cruises being allowed to begin in HNL?

  2. As always, thanks for these very useful updates to Hawaii’s ever-changing requirements! We are Maui residents and completed our vaccinations at Maui Memorial in April. As of last Friday, I understood that we would be able to travel back from the mainland later this month without the requirement to be tested. I saw nothing about this change in the Governor’s proclamations on Monday. Do you know the status of testing requirements for returning residents? Mahalo!

    1. Aloha Kevin, very cool that you live in Hawaii!!♡♡🌍🏖✈🌈 I’m planning my life long dream vacation trip to Oahu next year & I’m getting very excited & can’t wait! My itinerary has been completed for months now. My Grandfather was in the Navy & in Pear Harbor. He survived & I’ve always wanted to go to Pearl Harbor to pay my respects & PH is #1 on my list!! I’m going to be the best & most respectful visitor Hawaii will ever have!! Take care & God Bless you!♡….Psalms 91:11:)

  3. Aloha Guys
YEAH! It’s almost like dream. This is the first time I actually think this opening will happen. We plan on travel later this year. We traveled last Nov/Dec and while it was a good trip, much of fun had been removed because so many places where closed. I’m hoping for some resolution to the car rental problem in a few months too.

    1. Hi Roy.

It definitely feels different now. Like something is happening. We are hopeful it continues unimpeded in this direction. Thanks for your umpteen comments!

      Aloha.

      1. I’m guessing the rest of the country is opened, or in California’s case opening June 15th( hmm where else have I heard this date?) At some point Ige and the rest didn’t want to continue to look foolish.

LG Green has previously said Safe Travels would most likely be in place through the winter… Guess he was off a bit? Good thing we have $60 million in airport thermal scanners and really cool command posts recently built in the airports.

      2. I was talking to some friends who live on Maui. From what they are telling me a good many Maui residents are renting their cars. LOL.

    2. Dear Roy, I’m planning my life long dream vacation trip to Oahu next year & another reason I’m waiting is because I want everything open for the fun stuff😀

  4. Aloha!

So if safe travels ends it will just go away and not be part of the travel process at all? I ask because recently I thought I read here recently that once 70% was achieved, proof of vaccination would be required vs. a negative covid test.

    thanks

    1. Hi Jon.

What the governor indicated last Friday is this:

“At 60% fully vaccinated, the state will accept proof of vaccination as an alternative to testing for domestic travel.”
“At 70% fully vaccinated, ALL travel restrictions will be dropped.”

      Aloha.

  5. Thanks for this update. I am traveling to visit my son on July 18th. My situation is that I am traveling back to my home state from Texas on the 17th leaving me very little time to find a location for a rapid test. I am vaccinated but still do not want to be quarantined while there. My fingers are crossed.

    1. Walgreens and the ID NOW test. I flew from Texas to Oahu on Sunday, got the drive-thru ID NOW test (the RED button on their website) on Saturday with results posted two hours later. Did the same the week prior. Easy peasy.

  6. When it happens that Vaccines and tests are no longer required, we will again consider traveling to Hawaii! Hopefully that will be soon!

  7. Very misleading. All COVID restrictions will not end, as stated in headline. It’s only TRAVEL restrictions, not ALL restrictions.

  8. $500 in Covid Testing and we had 15 nites between 2 Islands. It was lovely to be in Hawaii, but very hard, between the cars … no restaurant reservations … places closing early … shops closing at 5 pm, having to show the info on your phone even though you had a bracelet or a printed piece of paper. Stopping your vacation to get a test to go to a new island. It was just hard for a vacation that was so very expensive. My advice is to wait a bit until folks go back to work. I watched The Dolphin in Poipou turn away 6 people for dinner at 7:45 because they had no servers. Crazy for a restaurant that has been closed for months. B’s in Princeville had to close two consecutive nights due to a lack of cooks! This is one of the largest restaurants open in Princeville. Additionally, we couldn’t eat at the Westin as the restaurant is still closed, we couldn’t get a reservation at Tidepools where we were staying at the Hyatt and on Maui, the same for the Hyatt there. People kept saying … there is take out. We have been having take out for all of the Pandemic … we want to go to a restaurant. If you are going soon … go to Open Table and book in advance.

    1. Dear Gloria, I have several reasons for waiting until next year to go to Hawaii & that is one of them that you were talking about. Stay safe & be Blessed!😇❤🐢🐠🌺✈🌈🍍🚕🛍👓🩴🌞👙🥥🌏🍍🏖

  9. Together with the 20-40% of the people who are naturally immune to Covid, all restrictions could have been lifted months ago…
