  1. BOH; Possible to clarify?
Does the term “domestic travel” in the above bullet point statement – “At 60% fully vaccinated, the state will accept proof of vaccination as an alternative to testing for domestic travel” – mean travel between the islands and mainland?

    1. Dear Fred, as of June 15th the testing requirements have been dropped for people traveling between islands.

  2. What month will Hawaii see 60%
Vaccination to let people avoid quarantine and testing from the mainland by July 1
    Thank
    You

  3. What happened to CommonPass or Clear? Is Hawaii still going use those or just uploading the vaccine card and showing it upon arrival will do?

    1. going to utilize it at 69% vaccinated…. it’ll cost the State $50million and be in service for 9 days

      1. Amazing how government entities can’t get enough of “gee whiz” technology. See it all levels of government. Enables them to distance themselves on a personal basis with the citizens for whom they work. Possible we’ll discover a lot of lobbying of Hawaii government by Clear and Common Pass – to what end? Soaking the taxpayer for another dumb (but cool) tech.

  4. The whole reason for these restrictions was to prevent an overwhelming of the hospital system. Yet there is zero evidence to support why any domestic restrictions should be in place. No valid models showing as input given a vaccined % population that hospital utilization exceeds a safe level of capacity. Once again govt officials pull numbers and related policies out of thier backside and no one says where’s the data to back that up.

  5. Hello, we are from Canada and have received two doses of AstraZenica. Will this be accepted to fly to Maui, or are these things still being worked out?
Thank you so much, we are very anxious to get back to Maui next winter as we missed it in 2021 due to Covid restrictions.

    1. Hi Charmaine.

So as not to provide you with incorrect information, we suggest you contact the state’s Safe Travels help desk is at 855-599-0888.

      Aloha.

  6. Wow!!
After everything, every day, sometimes every hour, to make a broad sweeping statement like this is just short of amazing. (If there’s any truth to it!)
    Here’s to wishful thinking.

Mahalo to Beat of Hawaii for the stellar reporting and awesome deals on all things Hawai’i.

    1. Hi Pam.

Thanks! Hara is highly placed and regarded. We were a bit surprised too. It doesn’t seem like he is shooting from the hip.

      Aloha.

  7. While lifting restrictions will be great, it doesnt address some of the limitations that a lot of restaurants/retail are dealing with. I just returned from Maui and noticed many eateries close early (5-6 pm, one closed at 4pm) or are not even open yet (Westin KORVs casual dining closes at 5pm while its finer dining restaurant isnt even open). Some retail closes early as well (Honolua Cookie Co on Front St. closes at 7pm and the one that used to be at Whalers is closed completely). I’m guessing these places are limited in hours of operation because they dont have the staff to keep “normal” working hours. And, what about the rental car issue … more people coming means more rental cars needed …

  8. Aloha folks,
here is something that is not clear. they are saying they will end ALL covid restrictions June 15th for Interisland, BUT no one is clear if you still have to register with safe travels and take the test and get your QR code 24 hrs before travel. Even our Mayor’s office was not clear. Can you find out for sure? That Safe Travels thing was horrible….not being 20 and a tech person. Just a horrible experience at the airport trying to get home from Big Island.

    1. Hi Ane.

Safe Travels says: “Beginning May 11, 2021, individuals fully vaccinated in the State of Hawai‘i may travel inter-county without pre-travel testing/quarantine starting the 15th day after the completion of their vaccination and after proof of vaccination has been uploaded to Safe Travels.”

So yes, Safe Travels is still required.

      Aloha.

  9. Hawaii could reach 90% vaccination tomorrow by following the state of Washington’s lead, offer a free joint!

Officials at the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) on Monday gave state licensed cannabis retailers permission to offer one pre-rolled marijuana joint “to adult consumers who receive a vaccination at an in-store vaccination clinic.”

No thanks, I’ll pass. Already fully vaccinated anyway….
Headed to Maui May 2022, got a car for $150/week already!

    1. Dear Davet, I’m planning my life long dream vacation trip to Oahu next year & I’m so glad that traveling to Hawaii will be normal post pandemic. Have an amazing time & stay safe. God bless you! 😃
