  1. Aloha,

We are so excited for the opportunities that await everyone here on the island. Can we get a estimated time on when hiring for SAW will go up for people here in oahu? Thank you.

  2. Hi –

With service out of California, does that exclude other states? Meaning I live in Chicago, so will I be able to book a layover flight from Chicago–>California–>Hawaii? Should be possible correct? It seems to only discuss California nonstop flights for locals.

    1. Probably you’ll have plenty of options connecting in the cities Southwest announced. However, given that Southwest won’t offer redeyes, your options will be limited coming back from Hawaii – you’ll probably need to leave Hawaii on a very early morning flight (7am or 8am) to make it back to Midway the same day, otherwise you’ll need to spend the night in California. Or you could fly United (year-round) or American (only around Christmas and February-March) non-stop out of O’Hare.

  3. Do you guys ever plan on having direct flight out of Dallas Luv field to Honolulu? If so, when do you anticipate these beginning?

  4. I was on the first flight from San Antonio to Oakland and overheard a flight attendant saying the flights will start in the 4th quarter, which would be October to December.

  5. Greetings BOH Staff!

A party of two of us are hoping to travel from St. Louis, MO to Honolulu from 01/12/19 – 01/18/19 or 01/19/19 – 01/25/19.
Do you suggest waiting to see what SWA will offer or going with another airline, and if so, when would be the best time to purchase for the best low fare?

    Thank you

    1. Hi Sharon.

It would be best to wait until this fall, whether Southwest has an impact or not. Saturdays are always more expensive, so if you can avoid, we’d suggest doing so.

      Aloha.

  6. I have over 60,000 southwest rapid rewards point I am anticipating a trip ofr my significant other to honolulu sometime during 2019 will 60,000 cover twon round trip fares from mco (orlando) to hnl (honolulu)?

thanks for the information and also thanks for plans to go to hawaii 🙂

  7. How about out of Burbank? Now that would be awesome. Aloha air flew out of Burbank.. Very convenient. Can’t wait for the price drops!

  8. I’m planning a trip from SAN-OGG in mid-October. How long should I wait for Southwest to make an announcement before booking flights on Alaska or Hawaiian? Ordinarily I would have booked by now but I’ve got lots of points on Southwest and a Companion Pass on top of that… It would save us big bucks!
