Aloha everyone🌺 Anyone who will be looking for Koa jewelry or souvenirs made from the wood there is a store in the Royal Hawaiian Center called the Lu Koa Collection. Building A I think & level 3 I think. Google to find your answer for sure! When I come I definitely want some Koa jewelry! 😊Stay safe everyone & God bless you….Psalms 91:11😇
Thanks for mentioning fabric. Quilters and fabric hoarders know all about the Kapaia Stitchery in Lihue; it’s a destination for quilters. If shoppers don’t have room in their luggage, the Stitchery will ship purchases at a flat rate. They have specials on their FaceBook page. I have scheduled our Kauai vacations to coincide with their two annual sales. Other great souvenirs are the handmade aprons, and large tote bags from the farmer’s markets and souvenir stands. Excellent quality!
The best souvenir from Hawaii: Coconuts mailed from the Hoolehua post office on Molokai. You don’t have to pack them in your suitcase. The postmaster is a charming fellow who keeps a stash of markers on hand so you can decorate your coconut, and write the address on it. It’s not terribly expensive. And the recipients get something in their mail that’s completely unexpected and very Hawaiian. Upcountry Molokai is lovely and laid back, so it’s worth the trip to Hoolehua.
We’ve been to Hawaii so many times the only souvenirs we return with are a lighter wallet, a good tan, sand in everything and fond memories.
Living on the west coast we’re able to buy many Hawaiian products at the local Costco even Honolulu cookies.
We love Kauai coffee and our son, who is really fussy, really like Kauai’s Peaberry coffee.
Don Quixote also has great prices on souvenirs. From coffee to macadamia chocolates to gifts for the home.
I buy so many Hawaii made goodies! I have to buy a lidded bin to put it all through luggage!
Kona coffee, best price I found at Safeway. At the airport where you find the luggage tags, you also find zipper coin purses. I give them as gifts and use one myself as an earbud case. Longs has nice shopping bags and cute Hawaiian themed wallets too. Macadamia nuts are a must! I can’t wait for the day I buy a one way ticket! Aloha 😀
My favorite gift to bring back from the islands is an insulated wine bag. It holds 2 bottles of wine and has a beautiful picture on the outside. I can usually find these bags at Long’s in the
wine department and they are very inexpensive and fit flat in my luggage.
Aloha!
Shout out to Puna Chocolate Company on the Big Island. Great unique gifts for chocolate lovers. Unique tasting chocolate you won’t get anywhere else.
A little pricey but a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses from the main store in Lahaina comes with lifetime replacement guarantees on frames and lenses( there is a co-pay though). But definitely worth it. I’ve owned some nice Oakleys and these put them to shame.
We love to hit the second hand stores, especially Habitat for Humanity or pet shelter thrift stores. We can get great gear to use during trip, t-shirts, Hawaiian shirts or a great muumuu, and other souvenirs. There are also some warehouse stores that you can get the standard stuff at great prices. Looking forward to finally get back to my islands in May!
My favorite gift souvenir is the coconut postcard. Tip: use your own labels for the address. Otherwise, the priority postage can get pricy, esp. if you’re sending out a dozen of them like I did 8 years ago.
Is the Swap Meet still the only place that sells them? I recall seeing them at the old Int. Marketplace back in the late 90s, but the entire place has since vanished. I have a second round of friends I want to surprise this time around, along with some mainland mail carriers to annoy. Mahalo.
What a great souvenir list! We always buy a piece of art made by a local artist. So wonderful to look at the paintings each day and dream of our next trip back to islands. We also purchase coffee, syrup, and pancake mix to make the first weekend back to reality (to lessen the pain, ha!).
Candles (scented with local flowers); I purchased one in a beautiful tin at a farmer’s market on Kauai. Tropical print scrunchies. Crystals and crystal jewelry (thinking of the shop in Hanalei). Hair sticks. Hawaiian print bookmarks. Guides to local plants, birds, fish, insects, flora, etc. Feather jewelry. Seashell knickknacks and jewelry. Prints of photography or paintings, from greeting card size on up.
TikiToes stickers made on Kauai for the past 23 years are the best souvinersade in Hawaii hands down.
I got some shopping bags at Safeway for .79 cents each. Fun and inexpensive souvenir. I also was surprised at what a good selection the small gift shop near the gates at the airport (not the big one in the main area) had – and good prices (kukui beads, sarongs, small turtle figurines, etc). Wish I’d thought to buy macadamia nuts at Costco! That’s a great idea.
I collect Bells from each state i travel too!
Dear Beverly, I collect magnets!! You should see my fridge….lol.🌺🌈🥥🍍🕶🏖
Aloha! We brought home cookies from Maui. Honolulu Cookie Company are our favorites. Also brought home sun dresses, shirts, mugs, and of course – hats! Can’t wait to go again in May.
Hi, and I’ve always loved Kauai Cookies – the macadamia nuts one!!
Mahalo

I started collecting Christmas ornaments from my travels. Have several from the islands as well as other places. Have also done preserves, Hawaiian sea salt and clothing.
A couple of years ago, my family and I went to Maui for my niece’s wedding at my brother’s house in Makawao. I was an assistant volleyball coach and decided to get some Hawaii themed hair clips for the girls. Bought 14 from a local artisan then bought some different ones at the ABC store in Lahaina. The girls loved them and wore them during some of their tournaments here on the mainland.
Thanks for the great gift ideas!
We also like to shop for Hawaiian gifts at the Don Quixote and Sam’s Club. Costco for their reusable “Aloha” themed shopping bags for ourselves and as gifts too.
The local craft fairs or festivals like the Okinawan Festival in Oahu are also great for local hand crafted dichroic or sea glass jewelry. Or go there to eat the andagi and other food… Too bad we can’t take the andagi back home!
And the Hawaiian pineapples are so much better/sweeter than the ones we get at our local So Cal grocery stores; so we will sometimes buy several pineapples at Costco or Sam’s (cheaper than buying them from Doles) on the last days of our visit and haul those back home!
A lot of the ideas provided were great unfortunately most of that is made overseas and shipped in from China. I suggest visiting farmers markets and looking for crafted items that are made locally in Hawaii. Food items and other things made by local artisans are much better than some of the junk found around town.
Have made several trips to Kauai (my sister lives in Kalaheo). Favorites are: local artwork/prints from Art House in Old Koloa town, video of our Wings Over Kauai plane tour (fixed wing, not helo), beautiful print note cards from one of the small art stores in Hanapepe, sunrise shells (among others) picked up off the beach, Aloha shirts (Costco has a good selection of locally made), and my wife likes her hula chicken dashboard doll.
We look for something made on the islands. On Kauai, Aunty Lilikoi Passion Fruit Products including puree to re-create Monkeypod lilikoi foam for the mai tai; Kauai cookies which I saw a bakery near Hanapepe; Wild Kauai chocolate in Wailua area. On Maui, products from the Ali’i Lavender Farm or the pineapple wine from MauiWine in the Kula area; widely variable are the smaller sampler-size Ocean Vodka in the blue “float shape.”
Hawaiian Host Caramacs ❤️ Found at a really good price at the Walmart near the Maui airport!!
There are shops in almost every town that carry local handmade gifts. Just ask around, we’d love to share! Please consider supporting Island-based artists on your trip.
I just ran across this as we are planning our first trip to Hawaii and we are so excited. We will be on the Big Island for 2 weeks and I was looking for gift ideas. Thank you so much for these.
We love license plate holders with Hawaiian themes!
My favorite was a Hawaiian-print lunch bag from a Foodland grocery store. It makes me think of the Big Island every day!
Thank you for your wonderful ideas. Being a long time visitor to the Islands and former long time resident. I always take your advice. I usually bring back coffee, family and friends love it, also calendars. I always have them hanging in my home, and bring them back for friends.
Thanks again, will certainly help those on their first visit to beautiful Hawaii!
Yes indeed! When we travel, we have often found that gifts of ‘mac nuts and coffee from the Sandwich Isles’ are excellent icebreakers and thank yous!
Pandora beads made exclusively for each island. You can also buy s bead that says Hawaii to cover all the islands.
Pieces of Diamond Head for those who didn’t go. I still keep sand from Hawaii and seashells from Tahiti from travels there years ago. Decorated seashells are great souvenirs. Seeds from flowers and plants – if authorities give their permit. Bibs for babies. Ties for men. Headbands for women. Hawaii fragrance for men and women. Flip flops for all. Decorated teaspoons (- some collect from different countries). Colouring books. Jig-saw Puzzles. Cards. Games. Book marks. Soap made from Hawaiian quality coffe grounds, good for skin and nature. Hawaii make nice motives for umbrellas. 🙂 Drink umbrellas.
A nice item is something made from the beautiful Koa wood……maybe a pen,or a trinket box.
My favorite gift is Passion fruit tea by Hawaiian Tea Company. Another for my craziest friends is the dashboard Hula Girl.
I always buy jewelry from local artists. I have several gorgeous pieces from my trips to Hawaii.
To expand on #13 – fragrant soaps – look for concentrated oils of tropical flowers. Here on the Big Island in Kona, Island Naturals offers a large assortment. I like to add a few drops to the palm of my hand then add my daily lotion and rub my hands together. Subtle yet fragrant way to move through the day. And especially noticeable when off island as the tropical flowers are unique in locations other than here.
Need to add at the end of this sentence…. I like to add a few drops to the palm of my hand then add my daily lotion and rub my hands together then apply to arms and legs.
KONA Coffee is always a must for gifts to take to mainland!!! 100% KONA only!!!!
What’s your favorite – I’ love the full body of a Kona coffee!
Lonohana Hawaiian Estate Chocolate and other Hawaiian bean to bar chocolates grown and processed in Hawaii. I take them to my special friends on the mainland. They are like fine wines but much easier to carry!
Yes, the calendars at Walmart were .50 cents last year. Got a ton of them to bring back and people are still complementing me on them because they last ALL YEAR!
Kapena Tequila for anyone that enjoys a good spirit! Extremely unique tequila that is infused with dried plum. Only available in Hawaii and super delicious!
My parents went to Hawaii without me when I was a kid and I was really excited when they came back with souvenirs. My parent’s bought me some crack seed in which I quickly grew to love. I think all of these suggestions are great ones and I would recommend them all!
