  1. My wife and I are planning a trip to Hawaii inearly September — with a day in Denver on the front end. It will be tough getting a test within 48 hours of departure to Denver and getting the results before we leave.

  2. I have travel reservations to fly out of Sacramento to Lihue at 7:30am Monday morning August 10. 72 hours before is Friday – I don’t think results of a civics test are realistic to be received. Any other timing options

  3. Unfortunately, this is a necessary evil to protect the most isolated place on the planet. I feel Hawai’i is doing the best it can to protect it’s Residents and ultimately the Visitors.

Everyone including the other States are having major difficulties! Take a step back and look at the bigger picture. We are all having a difficulties.

    1. Since it doesn’t appear that quick testing will be available, it wouldn’t even bother me to quar antine for 14 days when I arrive. However, I can’t afford to pay the high prices to quar antine in a hotel for that long while also paying for room service. Since I’ve already paid for a condo, I’d be happy to quar antine there and have groceries or meals delivered.

  4. I booked a trip for August 2, 2020 when another trip was cancelled. I love Hawaii and usually visit a few times a year. I have been trying all day to find a testing site in San Diego, California. All of the information is for those that have symptoms even if you are willing to pay out of pocket for the test. Please keep us informed of changes. Very frustrated!!! If airlines and airports are checking temperatures and screening for symptoms then why is a test needed.
    Thank you for your time.

  5. Please keep us posted as we are supposed to travel there in January. We are happy to take a test but are hearing it’s not readily available.

  6. As much as I love traveling to Hawaii , I just do not believe this is the time. And I have enough miles on multiple airlines to travel now. Besides the difficulty I am reading on this site regarding testing / timing of testing. Let us not forget that when we travel to the Hawaiian Islands for our leisure we could possibly bring the virus with us. Testing is honestly still in the beginning stages , at what point do people test positive in relation to when you could infect other people. An island is much different than the mainland as far as how fast disease can spread . That is why there are so many things already in place to prevent certain things from being introduced there . Examples : how long a pet has to Quar antine , the fact there is a “snake task force “ , and agricultural inspection . I understand the islands are struggling from the lack of tourism. If others like myself would like to help the islands we love and miss , I would recommend donating/buy local online or gift cars for future experiences in Hawaii and wait until it is safe for all to travel there . A hui hou Hawaii ! Danae

    1. Mahalo nui loa for your thoughtful consideration of our islands and those of us who call it home. Hawaii will be here when the time is right for travel, so please if at all possible postpone your vacations until the world is through the worst of this pandemic .

      Aloha from Hawaii Island

  7. I’m in Washington State and my friend went online to Walgreens and made an appointment for 1pm and had his results by 2:30 the same day. I just looked at making an appointment and they are 4 days out for testing, but with careful planning it should work.

    1. Not all tests are the same nor are they tested for the same thing – testing for the virus vs testing for the antibodies are very different timing.

  8. In a recent article, Josh Green stated,’Tourists WILL Be responsible for covering testing costs.’ Well… I’ve already paid an extra $900 when I rescheduled from May to August. How much is TOO MUCH? We are willing to do the pre-testing and do the hoop jumping, but if the cost is to exorbitant, this may just end up being a financial loss that 5 Stimulus checks from the government won’t really cover… and we needed that check too. Waiting for answers….

    1. So much of that depends on what airline you are flying – we rescheduled from July to August and it cost us $0 even with upgraded seats.

  9. I know they are testing whoever wants a test here in CA near me, but I don’t know how long it takes for results, but I’m still keeping my fingers crossed. Mahalo

  10. I have a great suggestion. Put a Dr on every flight and along with the declaration they make us fill out we all just swab and hand it in. The dr tests during the 4 or 5 hour flight and we are all given results when we land. If your clear, you get off if not, you are sequestered with the animals for 14 days!

    1. So does the doctor have a carry-on laboratory to test ? Not how it works… also let’s say everyone believes they are and in fact are healthy except the 5 asymptomatics. By time we land, most likely, the whole plane would be infected. what good then would 250 passengers in quarantine/ICU in Hawaii do ? you get a certificate that states you’re c0vid-positive and a lei. Great suggestion, dr cdc.
