  1. Look for cancellation holidays. Some package holiday companies sell off last minute trips for a huge discount when their customers can no longer travel.

  2. We have a family of 6 wanting to travel from Kansas City to Maui over christmas break this coming year. We are looking at Dec 26-January 3rd. We are wanting to fly first class and wanted to know if you have any airline recommendations to keep RT prices no more than $2000 per person.

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Ross,

No special suggestions. It is too early to see what the airlines will be pricing that at. Earlier in December is about $1700+.

      Aloha.

      1. Thank you! Do you think we should jump on tickets as soon as the airline calendars open up? Or would we best be to wait a couple of months? I just don’t want to miss out on seat availability, but prices are crazy!

        1. Hi Ross.

Most welcome. Yes those are crazy prices, but it isn’t at all clear that they will ever improve. If your dates and set and you’re ready to book, it would be best to get them as soon as possible.

          Aloha.

  3. Hello,

Our family is planning to go to Oahu for Christmas 2016. Flying from either San Francisco/Oakland/Sacramento area to Honolulu leaving Dec 17th & returning Dec 27th. Dates may be flexible within a day or two. Should we book right when the flights become available or wait a while considering it’s peak season? Not sure if prices would fluctuate that much vs. waiting?

    1. Hi Natalie,

It is generally best to buy as soon as they become available for the holidays. Oakland will probably be lowest price but SFO might work too with the additional competition.

      Aloha.

  4. Me, my wife, and 2 kids will be traveling from San Diego to Maui from 6/4/16 through 6/11/16. HA is approximately $900 each round trip. Will prices go down any before then?

  5. We looking to travel from Portland Oregon 3 of us to Kauai in November around the 2nd week in November staying for 7 nights when the cheapest time to buy our plan tickets

  6. Hello! My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Maui in January 2017 (14th to 21st). The tickets look so expensive! Can we expect a decrease in price? When would be the best time to buy? Thank you!

    1. Hi Victoria,

The time to look for those tickets is probably not until the fall. Prices may well come down. Airlines only sell tickets within next 330 days.

      Aloha.

  7. we would like to fly from the Bay Area to Maui around the middle to late June – Round Trip. Fares seem kind of high right now….$700 RT is best I have seen. We flew last year on Alaska for about $350 RT and we booked them around now…do you think the carriers will have better pricing in the next 30 days or so?

    1. Hi Teri,

We do not expect prices to come down for late June. That is peak season. Suggest buying now.

      Aloha.

  8. Looking to fly Salt Lake City to Maui in September over Labor Day Weekend. Hacker flights for $530 (but it takes all day to get to Maui) or $586 to get to Maui by 10:25 AM. Should we plan to buy tickets sooner or later?

  9. Husband and I traveling from CLE to OGG – May 30th through June 9th .. prices are approx $1100 r/t. I realize that the Midwest does not get any deals .. but should we buy now or wait. Thank you ..

  10. Hello!

I’m planning my honeymoon from 9/28-10/8 flying from the east coast to maui. We wanted to fly first class and I wasn’t sure when was the best time to book to get the best price? Should we start looking now?

    Thank You!

    1. Hi Sheila,

It’s running about $1700 (NYC-HNL) with one stop or double that for either the UA or HA nonstop. We don’t follow first very closely, and we’re not sure if it will improve or not.

      Aloha.
