  1. Hi,

Looking to fly to Oahu from San jose, ca on June 17-24. Currently Hawaiian airlines prices are $602 RT. Will prices go lower and when should I buy?

    Thanks In advance,
    Gina

    1. Hi Gina,

It isn’t likely that prices will drop for your June dates. Consider buying now.

      Aloha.

  2. Hi,

I’m planning to go to Maui for a friend’s wedding May 7-10 and kayak currently has round trip for $414 on Hawaiian Airlines with 79% confidence. Should I book now or is there a chance it might go down? Thank you!

    1. Hi Robert,

Looks like you’re travelling from San Jose, based on your IP address. That is one of the most fiercely competitive Hawaii routes. It might be lower – we haven’t seen the post Spring break prices yet. Perhaps consider waiting, although $414 isn’t a bad price in any event. You might save 100+ under ideal circumstances.

      Aloha.

    2. We are planning a trip to Honolulu Hawaii to visit our daughter in the Navy we are wanting to leave April 13 do you think the fares will still go down we will be leaving from Chicago Illinois

      1. Hi Roberta,

Your dates are at the end of high season so lower fares are possible. On the other hand Chicago doesn’t get many breaks on Hawaii airfares so unfortunately it is hard to predict.

        Aloha.

  3. Me and my fiancé are taking our honeymoon in June. We are flying out Monday june 22-30. Right now I am able to get a round trip ticket for around $870 flying out of Spokane Washington. Should I wait to purchase or will prices not drop much? Thanks!

    1. Hi Cody.

      Congratulations.

That is peak season so it isn’t likely that the airfares would need to come down. Hawaii may even become oversold.

      Aloha.

  4. Hi my husband and I are thinking of visiting Hawaii for the 1st time this year. Our anniversary is in September and was leaning toward that time. What would be the best time to visit most affordable? Also which Island? We are not the night life crowd, we enjoy outdoor activities and relaxation. Thank you for your response.

    1. Hi Debra,

September is the perfect time and the best pricing. Fall sales should occur between late spring and late summer. All the islands have a great deal to offer – you can’t make a bad choice really. Half the fun is in doing that research before your trip. Suggest online research and the Hawaii Revealed series of guidebooks.

      Aloha.

  5. Hi there,
I am looking to fly to Maui from Kansas City between May 31st and June 7th. Do you have any recommendations for the best deals? Thanks in advance!

    1. Hi Silvia,

You should leave MCI by June 3 for best pricing. Right now pricing is about $750 to $850 and the best hope is probably for mid $600’s. Watch for better Spring airfares soon.

      Aloha.

  6. Hi there.
We will be flying to Oahu in May of this year. My fiancé and I are getting married May 23rd. When would be the best time to purchase our flight? How crowded will it be then? Hows the weather like at the end of May? And lastly, is it better to purchase flight & hotel packages together or separately?

    TIA

    1. Hi Marissa,

We are awaiting deals for after Spring break. They could be released at any time for that low season. It is one of the most perfect times of year to be in Hawaii. Great weather and less crowding.

As we’ve mentioned before, there is no rule of thumb on package vs. buying air and accommodation separately.

      Aloha.

  7. Aloha 🙂

You guys are so great to answer these questions for all these visitors, so thank you ahead of time. We are looking to travel to Honolulu mid august from Newark NJ and was wondering when the best time to book that travel would be. Right now, direct flights are $1000 each. Do you think these prices will drop? Looking to travel 8-19 to 8-29. Thanks Again

    1. Hi Martha,

Right now your dates are $842 RT to Honolulu on the United nonstop which isn’t horrible. Or $778 to Maui. If you want to try waiting, you might see fares in the $650 range, perhaps this Spring or early Summer.

      Aloha.

  8. Hello!

i’m looking to take my dad around may for his birthday and can only find tickets in the 800 range should i wait? also leaving from the washington dc area.

    thank you!

    1. Hi Diego,

DC has very few Hawaii deals at this time. Price may not drop if you wait. Other other hand it won’t go up either so there is no harm in waiting some.

      Aloha.

  9. I am planning on flying out to kauai from salt lake city on May 13 and fly back on May 20th for our honeymoon. We’ve checked expedia, travelocity, costco, and other affiliations for vacation package deals. They are around ~$2500 for flight and hotel stay. Do you have any recommendations on where I should look for deals? Is it better to buy a package or maybe better to book everything separately?
    Thank you for your help.

    1. Hi DooHyun,

You may find pricing of around $500 for your dates, especially on Alaska Airlines. There is no rule of thumb on package vs. buying air and accommodation separately.

      Aloha.

  10. Hi, is $650 including taxes & fees a good deal for flights from LAX to LIH in August? Or should I wait for better deals to come? Thanks.

    1. Hi Rhona,

If it is the second half of August you may do better. Keep an eye out for relatively last minute airfares on the Hawaiian Airlines nonstop. Last year they were are low as $300’s for some dates in August.

      Aloha.
