  1. Looking to spend 1 yr anniversary at Alanui Disney from December 24-January 1 from Boston
    Any suggestions

    1. Hi Geoff.

Sorry to joke about this but only suggestion is to make a lot of money. Flying on the holidays themselves and their eves can sometimes help at least a little.

      Aloha.

  2. How far in advance should I plan to purchase interisland flights (Oahu to Kauai) ? The timing of return flight is important so I can connect with my flight back to mainland. Dates are Aug. 29 – Sept. 6 (which is Labor Day weekend).

    1. Hi Christy,

Best to buy inter-island flights as far in advance as possible. Availability is very often an issue, especially for desirable times and days of the week.

      Aloha.

  3. Looking for flights to Honolulu from
    Moline,il. Leaving Dec 26, back January 4th.
Any suggestions when I would book this for cheapest fare?

    1. Hi Kelly,

Expensive dates for sure. If you can leave on the 24th or 25th it will be a bit cheaper. Other than that, it is best to book now.

      Aloha.

  4. Thanks for sharing these helpful tips! I’m planning to go to Oahu from 9/23-9/30. The cheapest direct roundtrip flight from Newark, NJ seems to be around $750. If I wait until early summer (would that be May?), what price range should I buy instead of wait?

    1. Hi Emily,

It might be the same, but there’s probably about $150 of play should the airlines decide to lower it. No one really knows.

      Aloha.

  5. Hi. My husband and I are wanting to go in June. I see you say the best time to go is early June but the earliest I can go is June 19th because of my graduation 🙂 What should I expect to pay for airfare for that time? We would be leaving Orlando, FL. We plan on going to Oahu for a week and what would be a smarter/cost effective way to go when it comes to hotels vs condo? This will be my first time to Hawaii, his second. I’m super excited 🙂

    1. Hi Cynthia.

The Cheapest is just under $1k which is as expected for peak summer days. Don’t expect much change in that.

Condos aren’t as popular in Honolulu as say on Maui or Kauai. But you can still find them. Hotels with kitchenette are another possibility.

      Aloha.

  6. What is a typical good fall fare from Detroit to Maui or Kauai? I can do hacker fares right now and get 809 or so. There are $700 routes but those have an overnight layover in Seattle.

  7. I am traveling from LAX to Maui with my husband from July 24 to August 2 or 3. The price for flights has gone down by over $120 per person in the last month. They are currently at $744 for the flight times that I want. Do you expect prices to drop more? When would you recommend as being the best time to buy (lowest possible fares)? And what is a reasonable price to pay for these tickets? I would like to see the prices closer to $500 per person, but don’t know how realistic that is.

    Mahalo!

    1. Hi Ali.

LAX is seeing some unusual pricing which may predict changes in that very important market. Thus it is hard to say. For this particular situation you may do better to wait. But that is just an intuitive guess.

      Aloha.

  8. We are flying to HNL in mid September from Houston Tx. Straight flight is 954 round trip. Do you think that price will go down the closer we get to summer?

    1. Hi Christina.

It is definitely worth waiting a few months unless a sale occurs in the interim.

      Aloha.

  9. So, I’m seeing an upward trend to my last minute dates 5/29-6/5 out of San Diego or LAX to Lihue Kauai Island. Is this it, the final rise? I can’t buy tix until mid April I’m hoping for one last dip in prices. Are they just going to keep rising at this point? Or is there hope? Really need a mid April comedown which equals more tropical drinks in Poipu. Mahalo!

    1. Hi Tammy.

Hard to know. There’s definitely hope though that prices could drop. Fingers crossed.

      Aloha.

  10. My fiance and I are looking to honeymoon on Kauai in early August. We can fly from Detroit or Cleveland, most likely Aug 5-Aug 12. How far in advance is the best time to book for this time frame and what would be a good price? We know it’d be cheaper later, but I’m a teacher and that’s the latest I can do.

    1. Hi AKA,

For early August the prices may or may not change from what they are now. Therefore you might do just as well to buy now. Wednesday’s are the cheapest if that works, with fares as low as $803 RT all inclusive on American. You might try an online travel agency like Expedia as some of the fares are better when combining airlines.

      Aloha.
