  1. Hoping to visit Hawaii in July. Four adults, flying from West coast to Hawaii and boarding cruise ship. I’ve read a lot on less expensive times to fly. But have conflicting data on July. Any advice?

    1. Hi Nancy.

There’s nothing unclear about July. That is high season. Best to buy ASAP.

      Aloha.

      1. Hi Nancy,

The weather is almost always great in Hawaii. That is among our greatest attractions. July is no exception.

        Aloha.

  2. Hi my husband and I and 8 other family members from Canada are planning a trip to HNL July 22 to July 29. We are flying in from Houston and my family are flying from different city in Canada, Vancouver and Calgary. Per your suggestion on purchase timing my husband and I should purchase our tickets now which is $1117/person with United. Does that sounds right or should I wait? Also for my family in Canada, it’s around $500 currently. Should they wait or purchase now? Thanks in advance for your advice.

    1. Hi Ronnie,

Yes $1,118 on the nonstop sounds about right unfortunately. Not sure it will improve as it is the expected price. If it improves, it might only be at the very last minute. Probably best to purchase all tickets now.

      Aloha.

  3. $488 rt from sjc to hnl for travel May 15 – May 21. Hawaiian airlines. Should I get or wait? Any chance it will down? Thanks! Have a great day!
    Best,
    Amy

  4. I’m planning on flying to Maui from Phoenix on May 29 or 30 for 7 days. My travel dates are flexible after May 29. When should I book and through whom?

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Marcus.

Hawaiian or American. Wait a bit though. Not sure whether HNL will be cheaper than OGG.

      Aloha.

  5. Hi there,
I’m planning a trip for 2 to Honolulu from Los Angeles May 31st to June 5th and the airfare is quite a bit higher than I expected. Is it possible the fares will fall? This is my first time traveling to Hawaii and I wasn’t sure what to expect.

  6. Hello… looking to travel to maui on June 10th thru 24th out of chattanooga or nearby airports. Need 3 tickets and can leave the day before or stay over. Which airlines should i be watching and whats a good price? Can also fly out of atlanta or nashville if necessary.

    1. Hi Charlene.

Chattanooga $1333, Atlanta, $1159, Nashville $1153. Atlanta June 9 to 23 is $990 on Alaska Airlines, but has a very long layover. That is peak summer travel. It might come down some if you wait. Probably won’t get worse.

      Aloha.

      Aloha.

  7. Going to Maui from Spokane on April 30. Watching prices but now wondering with lower gas what amount should we expect to pay? And when to book? Using Alaska air.
    Thank you

    1. Hi Deb,

Prices have nothing to do with fuel prices at this point. It is just a supply and demand driven market. Price is $570 on weekends and about $50 less on weekdays. Not bad. Might or might not improve. Potential savings is $130 per person should it happen. Safe to wait.

      Aloha.

  8. My mom, sister and I are looking to go to Hawaii for a conference May 29-June 2. Dates traveling there and back are flexible as we want to visit my cousin so we are thinking of going between May 26-June 3. Flying from Des Moines, Iowa and Rochester, NY (or potentially Buffalo). I’m finding tickets are between $800-$950 for DSM and $1,100 for Rochester. Is it better to wait until February to find the best deals?

    1. Hi Jo,

Right now from Des Moines to Honolulu for your dates it’s over $800. There’s the possibility of about $100 drop if you wait a while. Also Buffalo is generally quite a bit less than Rochester.

      Aloha.

  9. You guys have a great website for information; thanks so much! Question, our family of 4 plans to go to Maui (leaving from Seattle) around August 8th. I would like to go through Alaska Airlines to utilize my miles and companion fare discount. Currently, the fares are coming in around $812 per person. Do you anticipate fares going any lower or should we be purchasing tickets now?

    1. Hi Julie,

That is a very competitive route so that’s good news. Unfortunately August 8 is still high season. If those dates are fixed, prices might not improve. If you can go a week later, you’ll do much better.

      Aloha.

  10. We are considering spending our 15th anniversary in Hawaii. Anniversary is in December 2016. Would like to go as close to that as possible. When’s the cheapest time to fly and how early would we be able to book it?

    1. Hi Jake,

All that we can suggest is already in the post in terms of then deals might come out and the best travel dates.

      Aloha.
