  1. What a waste of time. Just because you get the shot doesn’t mean you can’t be a carrier. Just because I get a flu shot doesn’t mean I can’t get the flu. Not exactly sure how this makes things safer. No one knows how effective this will be (how many times do we get the flu shot and oops sorry only 10% effective). Not a big fan of being forced to get something that may cause me more harm than if I didn’t get it. Still have to wear a mask? How about just bubble wrapping everyone in their seat. So now we have the vaccination card, 3 day test and masks. This will be a mess. Just keep it the way it is, less confusion. having been a Hawaii resident for almost 20 years last thing needed is more complexity.

    1. Definitely would be the case for myself but to each their own. Interesting how I cannot create my own initial post on this site.

  2. I’m not getting vaccinated, and there are many who will not, but I have respect for those who do or who may disagree. So those who don’t will probably have to take another covid test before arriving, and that’s fine to me. I’d rather get covid than the vaccination that’s causing adverse in effects in some, albeit a tiny part of the population.

  3. Cancelled our March trip, and made new reservations for mid-June. Hope to be vaccinated during the coming weeks, and hope the “passport” plans will be firmly in place and working by that time. Really want to see our kids, and really don’t want to have to change our trip plans for the 4th time. What do you think the chances of that are?

Thank you BOH for keeping us up to date on the ever changing rules for travel to HI.

    1. Hi Lee.

It certainly seems likely that will be in place far before mid-June. From what we heard from the Lt. Gov. yesterday, at least.

      Aloha.

  4. My wife & I have had the 1st dose of the vaccines (we’re in medicine). We get the 2nd dose shortly and the will wait 2 weeks for full efficacy. We expect the acceptance of vaccines to roll out slowly but plan to be in Princeville in 6 weeks. I hope CommonPass has become more common soon.

    1. Thank you Jim for stating that you will wait the two weeks after your second dose for efficacy as all people should do. I would like to add that despite after this period, mask should still be used and social distancing and good hand washing be continued until herd immunity is acquired. Thank you to all our residents and tourist for practicing our state’s mandate. 😷

  5. Thanks! Now that the vaccine is coming out many people (who werent going to die) are now going to die cause of this, thats wonderful! Oh how nice it is to see a world filled with zombies taking their zombie medications!! Good for you, this world is doomed.

    1. Please people…please wake up to this madness of vaccines. We don’t need a vaccine for a virus that has a 99.97% recovery rate. This virus is totally manageable and treatable. You may not even get it.

    2. Please, Lashaya, try not to use unfounded hysteria as fact in your post. Zombies? Doomed? Anyway, mahalo to BOH for keeping us informed. Aloha!

    3. The vaccine hasn’t proven itself free of side effects, safe for all, or even it’s efficacy.
      Hold your horses people!!
There’s no proven panacea to COVID-19.
This rush to vaccinate is scary.
Aloha and mahalo Beat of Hawai’i. You guys are the best!!

  6. Mahalo. Although LT. Gov is going to work it out the pass for vaccinated people, where will Kauai’s crazy mayor with a bubble brain stand on vaccinated people. Will he go along or find a way to do more harm to his island.

  7. Thanks for this info. Do you have an official government source for this, other than quoting what he said? Is there a Hawai’i website that explains the vaccine passport? February 1st is coming up soon. And what about people who don’t vaccinate due to religious reasons? Will exemptions be accepted?

    1. Hi Renee. It was a Facebook video that he did. We do expect something more official at any point now. It will be vaccination, testing, or quarantine, and religious reasons won’t exempt you from one of those.

      Aloha.

  8. How about people who can prove antibodies and may not be able to access a vaccine by February? We have family coming to Kauai in February and they will not be able to access vaccine by then due to ages and the order Indiana gives access.
