  1. Hi there! Will the flights to Maui change in price from BOI anytime soon? We have a hotel booked the last 8 days in February. Thanks!

  2. Hello

We have a house booked for the month of June 2018. We can fly from Phoenix or San Diego. Fairs are still 600 plus for air fairs. Should we hold off till the beginning of 2018 to book? Thank you!

    Lynn

    1. Hi Lynn.

Next year is hard to predict from those two departure points. Could well improve by waiting, even for summer, as new flights are announced. But there’s no guarantee of that. So it is bird in hand kind of situation unfortunately.

      Aloha.

  3. Aloha in 2010 when I would fly HA from the NorthWest flights were going for around $139.00 one way so I would fly twice a year I would like to know what was the cause, its not like the dont still have the same jets

  4. We are going to Kauai, the Big Island, and Oahu Jan. 26-Feb. 11. Do you think the cheaper prices will start in time for our trip.

  5. Many thanks for all your articles on travel to Hawaii. I have read them religiously for quite a few months now.

Planning a trip to Oahu late January 2018 from Portland and we are waiting for rates to decrease for that time period.

My question is about international travel to the Islands. My wife’s daughters are attending university in Sydney, Australia. We will be purchasing their airfare to join us during our visit to the Islands and was wondering if you track or have recommendations for flights from international destinations?

Thanks so much for all the information you provide to us travelers. We do love you and await your posts/comments/recommendations with great anticipation!

    Aloha

    1. Hi Brad.

We don’t track Aussie airfares to any degree (except personally). Last week Jetstar had an excellent fare that was valid until May I believe. It was just under $500RT. So I’d just check again with them, as well as other carriers.

PDX-HNL is already quite low for your dates – from $362 on United to $433 on Hawaiian. Might or might not improve.

      Aloha.

  6. Hi! I am thinking of going to Maui for about a week. I am looking to go anytime between June and early August 2018. How far ahead should I start looking? Also, do you find that package deals result in savings or should I go a la carte on hotel/car/air?

    1. Hi Isabel. Typically for that time period one should book 11 months in advance. Next year, with a change in flights and competition, if you’re flexible you can try hanging out and just see what happens.

Packages and a la carte will probably price equally, so it comes down to preference.

      Aloha.

    2. Hi there,

My name is Kevin, my wife is turning 50 in February. We are planning a trip to Maui from Canada leaving from Toronto April 30 to May 20. I was wondering if you have any thought what airline would be best to travel on.

  7. Hi,

Your website is great! Thank you for what you do. It’s very helpful for us travelers.

My question: we are planning our 10 year anniversary for August 2018. We would fly from Oakland or San Francisco. Based on SWA possibly entering the markets and the re-fleeting mentioned in the article, could you please share when you think we should book our flights?

Thank you for your consideration and advice.
    Josh

    1. Hi Josh.

Thanks! If you are flexible, and especially in the 2nd half of August, we definitely suggest waiting until deals happen. More flights will be announced later this year as well as into 2017.

      Aloha.

  8. Normally I get by my plane tickets in June for August travel from Los Angeles to Maui. Lowest airfare I have been able to nail was $350 rt. Any suggestions on when I should book for 2 week travel in the July-August timeframe?

    -David

  9. We are going to Kauai the last two weeks in May 2018, and right now round trips on Hawaiian (our airline of choise) are $536 per person, which I consider a decent fare from San Diego. Good seats and reasonable layovers are currently available. Do I pull the trigger (for our past several trips to Kauai, the fares have been cheapest, not long after they go on sale) or do I wait?

  10. Thank you for your site. Our 25th anniversary is on Nov 6th. We are thinking about Hawaii as one of the places we would like to go. Now reading that there may be southwest going to Hawaii in 2018 and new routes being added from may be Salt Lake City I am wondering if we should wait and go next year?

    Thank you again.

    Amee Y.

    1. Hi Amee.

Might not be a bad idea, if saving money is the primary goal. We expect a lot of new routes.

      Aloha.
