For 2025, resolve to research fees carefully, choose accommodations that are upfront about costs, and join the conversation advocating for fairer practices in the islands.
2. Stay Connected Over the Pacific.
In-flight Wi-Fi revolutionized Hawaii travel this year, with Hawaiian Airlines introducing Starlink and United stepping up with free, high-speed internet. Re #2–I can’t think of anything worse than being forced to listen to someone else’s video call on a flight. There will always be some thoughtless yahoo who will refuse to use headphones and make life miserable for the surrounding rows. After 5-6 hours of enduring someone else’s online garbage, I’m betting the air rage level for a lot of passengers will be reaching the danger level. This kind of progress we can do without. It’s going to make listening to crying kids a comparable picnic.
Happy New Year to you guys! Thanks for all the info you put out there for us. I would like to add a couple of our favorite eating spots. None are in Waikiki. Rainbow Drive-In in Kapahulu. Great food and a great family run business. Also Helena’s Hawaiian Food, on School St. And for the sweet tooth in you, Kamehameha Bakery on Kalani St. You can’t go wrong. A lot better than anything at those chain restaurants. Enjoy. Best to all.
I hope to go to Kona in 2025 with my sister again. Happy New Year everyone
For me 2025 is about thinking of others and being considerate of others’ needs and feelings. There is too much aggression and selfishness these days. Time for aloha resurgence.
Aloha and thank you for all the information. We are coming back in March, and April this year. After reading this article I was wondering if you could help us find local restaurants on Maui and then Kauai. Would love to give back to the locals. Been coming since 1976 and finding them has got a lot harder. Happy New Year.
