Hawaiian Airlines announced today that they will add as many as 10 seats to each of its 18 Boeing 717 planes which are used for flights within Hawaii. Fortunately, it’s a short flight and who knows, the extra capacity may bring more Hawaii deals.
“We are replacing all of the main cabin seats with more modern, lightweight, thinner seats that will allow us to maintain the amount of personal space that our guests have.” Peter Igram, Hawaiian Airlines.
Let’s see what that does to personal space. It will have some impact for sure but maybe not too noticeable. Seating on Hawaiian’s inter-island fleet currently offers 30-31″ of pitch in 18 inch wide seats with between 118 and 123 seats. After the seating upgrade, all aircraft will have 128 seats.
Once we’ve had a chance to fly on one of the newly configured planes, we’ll report back to you here.
